Goblin Electromancer only reduces the cost of a fused spell by 1.

Before the Izzet, there was Arcane. Before Arcane, there was storm. And before storm, there were split spells! Fresh off the heels of Grand Prix Modern Masters, we come full circle with a look at the Fuse mechanic, a blast from the past in Dragon’s Maze with a little twist involved. Probably no guild benefited more from these cards than the guild that loves to cast a bunch of spells in one turn, as evidenced by Goblin Electromancer.

However, even though a fused spell on the stack may have two names, two (or more) colors, and two effects, it still counts as only one spell — as the name would indicate, they’re treated as two halves of the same whole. Therefore, Goblin Electromancer will only reduce its cost by 1. For example, if we were casting a fused Turn // Burn, we’d add the two costs (2U + 1R) together into one big mana cost of 3UR, then knock 1 off the whole thing, for a grand total of 2UR. The same rule would apply to an Arcane spell, no matter how many spells it has spliced onto it. Casting a fused spell also counts as only one spell for purposes of storm count.
