Ragemonger and Boros Reckoner work pretty well together.

Unless your deck can make both red and white mana, Boros Reckoner has a fairly strict mana cost: three hybrid symbols! While hybrid symbols are pretty intuitive, they do have some interesting interactions with the rules.

One of these interactions relates to how you actually pay a hybrid mana cost. As you start to cast a spell with hybrid mana (like Boros Reckoner), you need to pick how you’ll pay for each of the hybrid mana symbols. That choice is then taken into consideration when you look for other effects that care about the mana cost of your spells…like Ragemonger!

So, if you have a single Ragemonger in play, you can basically ignore one of the {R/W} symbols in Boros Reckoner’s cost. This works because you choose to pay red for one of those symbols, and Ragemonger promptly reduces that cost out of existence. You can then pay for the other two symbols however you want — with red mana, white mana, or any combination.

If you have multiple Ragemongers, the discount will “stack”. If you have three Ragemongers, you can cast Boros Reckoner for free! Bring on the horde!

(Even if you only spend red mana to cast Boros Reckoner, it’s always a red-and-white spell for anything that cares about that, like an opponent’s Soldier of the Pantheon.)
