Exemplar Highlights – Joshua Silvestri and Victoria Dorn

Welcome back to another exciting edition of Exemplar Highlights! Daniel Lee here to bring you a glowing recommendation from one of the Bay Area’s most prolific L2 judges, Josh Silvestri. He chose to recognize an up-and-coming L1, Victoria Dorn, for her work and accomplishments during a Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier.

Victoria Dorn

Victoria has been a competitive Magic player in central California for a number of years. Around the release of Shadows over Innistrad, she decided to take a break from competitive play. Still wanting to be involved in the community, she turned to judging and quickly fell in love with it. Under the guidance of Travis Lauro and Charles Ferguson, she began working as many events as she could get her hands on. How has that hard work paid off? I’ll let Josh explain…

“I appreciated how calm and professional Victoria was during our most recent PPTQ event. There was a time when she was the only one keeping track of side events while also covering the main event. She was constantly doing things for these sides before myself or the HJ even thought about them, showing excellent multitasking and initiative.”

According to Victoria, there were at least two other tournaments running alongside this PPTQ. She was focused on checking in with all three events, making sure each one had the support they needed. As Josh said, she even anticipated needs before those running the tournaments realized it! Multitasking and initiative are exceptional qualities in judges, and it is wonderful to see them growing in a relatively new judge.
