Let&#8217;s prepare for our collective escape from the underworld!<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Tectonic Giant'><\/p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deckbuilding<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Power Level:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In a Two-Headed Giant Prerelease you get to build with twice as many cards and share what you open with your teammate. Your team will get a total of two Prerelease packs, so 12 booster packs and two date-stamped rares. Decks will have a much higher card quality on average and you should be more selective while building.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Colors:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> It\u2019s possible between both players to play all five colors. If one of your decks is in three colors you can theoretically play all the bombs you open. There <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> an argument for consistency over power, but your mana-fixing options will help dictate what\u2019s possible. Don\u2019t stretch your deck too thin and remember that games typically go longer. You\u2019ll see more cards from your deck but you will be facing your opponents\u2019 best cards as well!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Strategy: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are differing ideas about whether you and your teammate should both share a strategy (both aggressive or both controlling) or whether you should each be aiming for a different goal. The most important idea is that you each <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">have<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a strategy. A good collection of cards without a cohesive plan is generally much less efficient and more likely to fall prey to a synergistic team on the other side of the table.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Evasion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> With more creatures in play, board stalls can happen very quickly. Evasive creatures are critical! There are only two creatures with reach at common and one of them generally won\u2019t be able to block (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Flummoxed+Cyclops&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Flummoxed Cyclops<\/a>) so be prepared to primarily engage fliers with other flying creatures. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Wings+of+Hubris&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Wings of Hubris<\/a> may be worth considering to keep your creatures in the skies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Countermagic:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Being able to shut down an enemy spell is twice as likely to happen with two spell-casting opponents. With stronger decks there are more must-answer bombs overall and the risk of devoting a turn to counter an enemy spell (say with <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Memory+Drain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Memory Drain<\/a>) is less problematic when your teammate helps advance the board. Even situational counterspells like <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Deny+the+Divine&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Deny the Divine<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Whirlwind+Denial&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Whirlwind Denial<\/a> find their marks more often.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Situational Answers:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In a best-of-one match, cards with more specific functions can prove to be much more valuable. Specifically, you\u2019ll want a few ways to remove troublesome artifacts and enchantments. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Revoke+Existence&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Revoke Existence<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Return+to+Nature&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Return to Nature<\/a> are your prime options, though <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Mystic+Repeal&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Mystic Repeal<\/a> can be serviceable in a pinch. Removal is generally valuable of course but your more narrow cards like <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Triumphant+Surge&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Triumphant Surge<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Plummet&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Plummet<\/a> are much more likely to find a target with two opponents.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Theros-Specific<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are 22 common or uncommon Auras in this set. Many \u2018combat tricks\u2019 are Auras with flash, meaning that they can be removed with Disenchant-type effects. This also makes removal much more valuable when you can 2-for-1 opposing creatures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your devotion to a color only counts mana symbols on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">your own<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> permanents &#8211; no shared devotion on Theros!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cards like <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Arena+Trickster&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Arena Trickster<\/a> that trigger when you cast your first spell during each opponent\u2019s turn will trigger no more than once during the opposing team\u2019s turn. While they\u2019re two heads, they\u2019re only one team with one shared turn.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Quick Tips<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Play or draw:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> In 2HG sealed it\u2019s often correct to choose to draw if your decks aren\u2019t incredibly aggressive. Drawing two extra cards on your first turn can be a significant advantage if you plan for a longer game.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Mulligan: <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each player has one \u2018free\u2019 mulligan. Use it aggressively! If you have a sub-par hand, pitch it back and try again. It\u2019s not worth risking a mediocre opening seven.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>\u201cYou\u201d means You!<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> If a card refers to \u201cyou,\u201d it only impacts you as a player. This is most evident on cards that reference life gain &#8211; If one player gains life, the team\u2019s life total changes but a teammate\u2019s effects that look for life gain won\u2019t trigger.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>PRIME PICKS<\/p>\n<p><b>Multiple Heads<\/b><\/p>\n<p>There are several cards that reference &#8216;each opponent,&#8217; doubling their effectiveness.<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Gray Merchant of Asphodel'><\/p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Arasta+of+the+Endless+Web&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Arasta of the Endless Web<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Twice the opponents means double the potential triggers. This is also an incredibly efficient defensive creature for slower games.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Ashiok%2C+Nightmare+Muse&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Ashiok, Nightmare Muse<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; The token created by the +1 causes each opponent to exile, yielding more choices for the ultimate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Gray+Merchant+of+Asphodel&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Gray Merchant of Asphodel<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; It\u2019s back and just as potent as before. This causes each opponent to lose life and you to gain that much life. You\u2019ll want to pack as many of these as you open.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Klothys%2C+God+of+Destiny&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Klothys, God of Destiny<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; More cards in graveyards gives you more potential targets. Plus you\u2019re dealing 2 damage to each opponent for a total of 4 damage per turn if you\u2019re exiling nonland cards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Kroxa%2C+Titan+of+Death%26%238217%3Bs+Hunger&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Kroxa, Titan of Death&#8217;s Hunger<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; You probably don\u2019t need much convincing that this Titan is a strong card. Its effect hits each opponent, yielding two discarded cards and a potential 6 lost life per trigger.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Lampad+of+Death%26%238217%3Bs+Vigil&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Lampad of Death&#8217;s Vigil<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; If you can produce enough resources to activate this reliably, it can swing a lot of life over the course of the game.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Mischievous+Chimera&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Mischievous Chimera<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; An efficiently costed flier is already fine value and converting your reactive spells into 2 additional damage can add up quickly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Pharika%26%238217%3Bs+Spawn&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Pharika&#8217;s Spawn<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; This causes <em>each<\/em> opponent to sacrifice a creature when it escapes. It\u2019s an efficient package that you\u2019ll be happy playing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Tectonic+Giant&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Tectonic Giant<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; Yes, you read that correctly. Any time this attacks or gets targeted by an enemy spell you can have it deal 6 total damage to the enemy team. This is absurdly powerful for this format.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=The+Akroan+War&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>The Akroan War<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; This will pull most of your opponent\u2019s creatures out of contention. If you\u2019re ahead on board, this card will feel unbeatable.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Underworld+Dreams&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\"><strong>Underworld Dreams<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; 2 life each draw step really adds up, plus this offers the incidental benefit of penalizing any other draw as well!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Versatility<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Wolfwillow+Haven&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Wolfwillow Haven<\/a> can be used on your teammate\u2019s land to help them ramp.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Shatter+the+Sky&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Shatter the Sky<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Storm%26%238217%3Bs+Wrath&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Storm&#8217;s Wrath<\/a> &#8211; Boardwipes get better in 2HG and these are no exception. Time their use correctly and you&#8217;ll gain huge resource advantages on your opponents.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Tymaret%2C+Chosen+from+Death&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Tymaret, Chosen from Death<\/a> is a great mana sink to keep both your opponents from escaping, and in a pinch you have more fuel yourselves if you really need the life.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Karametra%26%238217%3Bs+Blessing&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Karametra&#8217;s Blessing<\/a> can also protect your teammate&#8217;s creatures (usually the hexproof trick can only target creatures you control. With more bombs to protect and more removal spells from the opposing team, this has a lot of utility for 1 mana!<\/li>\n<li>Conversely, keep in mind that some Auras can NOT be used on your teammate&#8217;s creatures. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Aspect+of+Lamprey&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Aspect of Lamprey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Iroas%26%238217%3Bs+Blessing&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Iroas&#8217;s Blessing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Setessan+Training&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Setessan Training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Starlit+Mantle&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Starlit Mantle<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Warbriar+Blessing&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Warbriar Blessing<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Bronzehide+Lion&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Bronzehide Lion<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Wildcards<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Nessian+Boar&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Nessian Boar<\/a> &#8211; This card is the one I\u2019m most curious about in this set. It has a huge potential upside in that all of your opponent\u2019s creatures have to block it, but that same strength allows for huge blowout potential if it\u2019s removed. It\u2019s also massive card advantage for your opponents if your alpha strike doesn\u2019t finish the job. I imagine you still play it based on its efficient stats with the awareness that things could go wrong.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>HIDDEN DUDS<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These are the cards that generally won&#8217;t function how you want or are essentially not worth playing. You may be able to make these work in unique circumstances but they&#8217;re typically left in the sideboard.<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Enemy of Enlightenment'><\/p><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Enemy+of+Enlightenment&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Enemy of Enlightenment<\/a> &#8211; This counts the cards in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">each<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> opponent\u2019s hand, meaning that it\u2019s unlikely to even survive entering the battlefield.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/2hg\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Flummoxed+Cyclops&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Flummoxed Cyclops<\/a> &#8211; a 4\/4 for four mana with reach is normally a pretty good deal, but since your opponents will have twice as many resources, this will essentially never get to block.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>I hope this has been helpful for you!
