Coolest name in the program

This month we are featuring 1 judge: Vinicius Quaiato. Fellow RC, Sophie, has put together some thoughts about his 5 years in the program:

Today is Vinicius’ judge anniversary, and since I met him 2 years ago in GP Lille, I could just see how his community is important to him. His passion and devotion had made him a more than respected judge and regional coordinator. I went to talk to several judges of Brazil, and they all were excited to thank him writing some words to celebrate.

Tomas Palm:
Quaiato, five years ago we met in a Chaos Games tournament. Since then, we have worked together several times and have been able to follow closely their evolution from level 1 to regional coordinator, and we have become good friends. Congratulations on the five year program and keep up the good work!

Thalès Bittencourt:
I remember well the first months after Vinicius got certified. We had a mailing list for judges, but it was not being used very often at that time… In the months following his certification, the list saw an activity like never before! Soon after that, I received an email from Vinicius explaining that he was ready to be a L2. I wish to congratulate Vinicius for his 5th anniversary as a judge, but more than that I want to thank him for his tireless enthusiasm with the judge community all these years. For me personally Vinicius has been a bastion of clarity and friendship in the judge program. Some of the most cherished memories I have in in the program are shared with him. Vinicius, I know you have a brilliant future ahead of you! Do not be afraid to conquer it! Shine on, crazy diamond. Hugs, Thales.

Nicolau Maldonado:
I used to see always the same person answering rules questions on social media. Everyday, I would see him answering different questions, all well explained and based on comprehensive rules. At the time, we weren’t that many judges in Brazil, so I knew he wasn’t a judge. How strange to see someone so eager, going to the point of reading the comprehensive rules and answering questions as a hobby. No doubt, he had the makings of a judge. So I went on to message this Vinicius Quaiato and ask him if he was interested in becoming a judge. He was.

A long time has passed, and Vinicius has not only grown himself, but also nourished so many others to grow along. Before he became an L3 and before he became Brazil’s RC, he was always knowledgable, enthusiastic, and reliable. He still is.

Vinicius efforts keep reminding us that Magic, and the Judge Program, is a community. Made out of bonds between real people. I think the Judge Program has a lot to thank him for, and I have to thank the Judge Program for having introduced me to a good friend.

Bruna Chiochetta:
When I became a judge, before actually getting to know Vinicius I already had heard about how competent he was. He’s one of our most recognized judges and he deserves this recognition. He’s a rockstar — not only extremely competent on judging events but since the beginning he’s been aware of our region needs and putting efforts on new ideas to make things work better in our community.

As a Regional Coordinator, Vinicius means a lot to us. He brought to us something we desperately needed – an approachable and enthusiastic leader. As soon as he became our Coordinator he started new mentoring projects, organized a National and planned Regional Conferences, along with making monthly newsletters so everyone knew what was going on, again showing an exemplary awareness of what we needed as a community.

He’s also a leader in the area of diversity and since always has been working on educate our judges towards inclusive and safe spaces. We are now much more comfortable to discuss these issues. I’ve seen Vinicius showing support to very delicate situations, while always being an example on Judge Conduct. We’re becoming better judges and humans thanks to his work. I feel supported and represented by him and I hear people saying they feel the same.

Vinicius, you’ve been doing great in these 5 years and I’m glad to have you with us! Thank you and happy judge anniversary!

Happy anniversary to all of you!  We look forward to many more years of judging from you all.
