In this concluding article it&#8217;s time to mention reoccurring topics from the release notes, that aren&#8217;t &#8220;main&#8221; enough to have their own section within a single article. Naturally this isn&#8217;t a comprehensive list of all the remaining topics, as creating one would be nearly impossible. If it does trigger, but the condition isn&#8217;t met when the ability tries to resolve, the ability is removed from the stack and does nothing. If you don\u2019t, the ability won\u2019t trigger at all. The ability will check again as it tries to resolve. Notably, if Chronicler of Heroes entering the battlefield causes an evolve ability to trigger, you can have the evolve ability resolve first and then draw a card.<\/p>\n<p>In this case the triggered ability doesn&#8217;t follow the &#8220;Trigger event, If condition, Effect&#8221; structure, so it&#8217;s not an intervening \u2018if\u2019 clause. More specifically, &#8220;When Chronicler of Heroes enters the battlefield, draw a card&#8221; isn&#8217;t an event because of the last part.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"each\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Each player<\/strong><br \/>\nIf an effect says each player does something, first the active player (the player whose turn it is) will choose what to do, then each other player in turn order will do the same. Similarly, if it enters the battlefield at the same time as another Zombie card enters the battlefield from your graveyard, the ability will count that other Zombie.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* Diregraf Colossus\u2019s last ability won\u2019t trigger when you cast it because it\u2019s not on the battlefield yet.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"duration\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Duration of a spell or ability<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen a spell, activated ability, or triggered ability resolves, it may create one or more one-shot effect, or continuous effects.<br \/>\nA one-shot effect does something just once and doesn\u2019t have a duration. These include dealing damage, destroying a permanent, creating a token, and moving an object from one zone to another.<br \/>\nA continuous effect generated by the resolution of a spell or ability lasts as long as stated by the spell or ability creating it (such as \u201cuntil end of turn\u201d). If no duration is stated, it lasts until the end of the game.<br \/>\n<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Beguiler of Wills'><\/p><\/p>\n<div id=\"cards10\" style=\"float: left;width: 450px;text-align: justify\">\n<p>[cets_callout_box style=&#8217;gray&#8217; align=&#8217;full&#8217; title=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 5px\">Beguiler of Wills<br \/>\n{3}{U}{U}<br \/>\nCreature &#8212; Human Wizard<br \/>\n1\/1<br \/>\n{T}: Gain control of target creature with power less than or equal to the number of creatures you control.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* The control-changing effect lasts indefinitely, even if the power of the creature becomes greater than the number of creatures you control after the ability resolves.<\/p>\n<p>Some continuous effects apply to game objects, modifying the characteristics or changing the controller of any objects. In that case the set of objects it affects is determined when that continuous effect begins. After that point, the set won\u2019t change.<br \/>\nEffects that say &#8220;until end of turn&#8221; are usually of that kind.<br \/>\n<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Hazardous Conditions'><\/p><\/p>\n<div id=\"cards10\" style=\"float: left;width: 450px;text-align: justify\">\n<p>[cets_callout_box style=&#8217;gray&#8217; align=&#8217;full&#8217; title=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 5px\">Hazardous Conditions<br \/>\n{2}{B}{G}<br \/>\nSorcery<br \/>\nCreatures with no counters on them get -2\/-2 until end of turn.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* The set of creatures affected by Hazardous Conditions is determined as the spell resolves. Creatures that get a counter later in the turn will continue to get -2\/-2. Creatures that enter the battlefield or lose their counters later in the turn and noncreature permanents that become creatures later in the turn won\u2019t get -2\/-2.<\/p>\n<p>Other continuous effects modify the very rules of the game, so they can affect objects that weren\u2019t affected when that continuous effect began.<br \/>\nEffects that say &#8220;this turn&#8221; are usually of that kind.<br \/>\n<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Magmatic Chasm'><\/p><\/p>\n<div id=\"cards10\" style=\"float: left;width: 450px;text-align: justify\">\n<p>[cets_callout_box style=&#8217;gray&#8217; align=&#8217;full&#8217; title=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 5px\">Magmatic Chasm<br \/>\n{1}{R}<br \/>\nSorcery<br \/>\nCreatures without flying can\u2019t block this turn.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* Because Magmatic Chasm\u2019s effect doesn\u2019t change the characteristics of any permanents, the set of creatures affected by Magmatic Chasm is constantly updated. Whenever a creature dies this turn, you gain 1 life.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* Only creatures on the battlefield when Death Frenzy resolves will get -2\/-2. However, if a creature enters the battlefield and then dies later that turn, you\u2019ll gain 1 life for it.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"cherries\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Cherries on top<\/strong><br \/>\nIf a creature has * as its power or toughness, the ability defining it works in all zones, not just the battlefield.<\/p>\n<p>If something lets you tap a creature for an effect, but doesn&#8217;t use the {T} symbol, you may tap creatures that haven\u2019t been under your control continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example that incorporates the two:<br \/>\n<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Veteran Warleader'><\/p><\/p>\n<div id=\"cards10\" style=\"float: left;width: 450px;text-align: justify\">\n<p>[cets_callout_box style=&#8217;gray&#8217; align=&#8217;full&#8217; title=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 5px\">Veteran Warleader<br \/>\n{1}{G}{W}<br \/>\nCreature \u2014 Human Soldier Ally<br \/>\n*\/*<br \/>\nVeteran Warleader\u2019s power and toughness are each equal to the number of creatures you control.<br \/>\nTap another untapped Ally you control: Veteran Warleader gains your choice of first strike, vigilance, or trample until end of turn.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* The ability that defines Veteran Warleader\u2019s power and toughness works in all zones, not just the battlefield. If Veteran Warleader is on the battlefield, it will count itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* To activate the last ability, you can tap any other untapped Ally you control, including one that hasn\u2019t been under your control since the beginning of your most recent turn. (Note that ability doesn\u2019t use the tap symbol.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* You choose which ability Veteran Warleader gains as the last ability resolves, not as you activate it.<\/p>\n<p>Noncreature permanents that become creatures are subject to summoning sickness, unless they have haste. This is checked against when that permanent itself came under your control, not when it became a creature, or when it entered the battlefield under someone else&#8217;s control.<br \/>\n<p><img  style='float:right'  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Lumbering Falls'><\/p><\/p>\n<div id=\"cards10\" style=\"float: left;width: 450px;text-align: justify\">\n<p>[cets_callout_box style=&#8217;gray&#8217; align=&#8217;full&#8217; title=&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 5px\">Lumbering Falls<br \/>\nLand<br \/>\nLumbering Falls enters the battlefield tapped.<br \/>\n{T}: Add {G} or {U} to your mana pool.<br \/>\n{2}{G}{U}: Lumbering Falls becomes a 3\/3 green and blue Elemental creature with hexproof until end of turn. It\u2019s still a land.<\/p>\n<p>[\/cets_callout_box]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* A land that becomes a creature may be affected by \u201csummoning sickness.\u201d You can\u2019t attack with it or use any of its {T} abilities (including its mana abilities) unless it began your most recent turn on the battlefield under your control. Note that summoning sickness cares about when that permanent came under your control, not when it became a creature nor when it entered the battlefield.<\/p>\n<p>And a little extra something for the end&#8230;<br \/>\nAn \u201cextra turn\u201d is any turn created by a spell or ability.
