Now What?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 10px\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"judgeimage\" style=\"margin-right: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px;float: left;padding: 10px;width: 200px;height: 240px;background: #f1f1f1\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: auto\" src=\"http:\/\/apps.magicjudges.org\/media\/avatars\/Somnolence\/resized\/200\/Bprill.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: -23px;line-height: 18px;text-align: center;color: #828282;font-size: 12px\">Written by Bryan Prillaman<br \/>\nLevel 3, Florida (USA)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">Hello all, and welcome to yet another installment of \u201cWhat\u2019s going on with Exemplar?\u201d\u00a0 I\u2019ll be your host this evening as well as for the foreseeable future.\u00a0 In tonight\u2019s episode we are going to catch up with some of the behind the scenes activities for Wave 3, Wave 4, and yes, even Wave 2.\u00a0 So sit back, relax and enjoy your commercial-free entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wave 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">By now, Wave 3 has closed.\u00a0 I want to thank everyone for who submitted recognitions for their fellow judge.\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen several posts on social media where people have commented on how meaningful previous recognitions were, and I expect no less from this wave.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">So now, let\u2019s talk about \u2018What\u2019s next?\u2019\u00a0 It\u2019s not really a secret that the internal and external parts of the previous waves made continental drift look speedy.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t a dig against the previous owners of the project.\u00a0 This project is huge, with a massive amount of infrastructure custom build specifically for Exemplar.\u00a0 Every action was trailblazed.\u00a0 That effort takes time, and if future releases go faster, it\u2019s because of the investments made by my predecessors. With the end of Wave 3 and the beginning of Wave 4, we have turned a corner in working out the kinks in this project.\u00a0 We are now discovering problems less, and addressing them more.\u00a0 This doesn\u2019t mean that there still isn\u2019t work to do, but it means we are moving in a positive direction and establishing a rhythm for future waves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">With that in mind, I want to lay out a notional schedule for what\u2019s going to happen with Wave 3.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not going to lay out exact dates (because I expect some things to take longer than expected), but rather approximate time frames\/goals; so you can see the order of magnitude we are dealing with.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: 26px\">\n<li style=\"line-height: 26px\">Weeks 1-2 \u2013 The Exemplar Team will review the recognitions and approve\/reject them.<\/li>\n<li style=\"line-height: 26px\">Weeks 3-4 \u2013 The Exemplar Team will contact authors of rejected recognitions and give them a chance to correct them.<\/li>\n<li style=\"line-height: 26px\">Week 5 \u2013 Publish the Recognitions\/Metrics Team starts analyzing the results.<\/li>\n<li style=\"line-height: 26px\">Week 6-7 Collect Addresses from Wave 3 recipients.<\/li>\n<li style=\"line-height: 26px\">Week 8 \u2013 Hand collected information over to WotC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">At this point, I want to talk about address collections for wave 3.\u00a0 We will be using a similar method to Wave 2.\u00a0 We may have a different collection method for wave 4, but right now, we are continuing with what we have done previously.\u00a0 An email will be sent to each person who received a recognition, with a link to a google form and instructions on how to use it.\u00a0 You will have about 2 weeks to put your address in.\u00a0 Please make sure your email in Judgeapps is an email you check regularly.\u00a0 Mailing Addresses provided via other means; IM, phone conversations, email, morse code, carrier pigeon, will not count.\u00a0 Late entries will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wave 4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">There was some discussion between Wave 2 and Wave 3 regarding the appropriate amount of time between the start of one wave and the beginning of the next.\u00a0 In general it was decided that, since there was no cost to starting early, there is no reason not to start as soon as possible.\u00a0 To this end, we will be starting wave 4 in a few weeks.\u00a0 Why not right away?\u00a0 Well, if you recall, we made some tweaks to the number of slots between Wave 2 and Wave 3.\u00a0 We want to check to see if they had the desired effect, and make adjustments if they make sense prior to announcing the start (and end) of Wave 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wave 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">I was informed last week that WotC put out a mailing for Wave 2.\u00a0 In fact, I saw some social media posts over the weekend and today, where some judges have already begun receiving \u2018Thank You\u2019 gifts. Celebrate your success.\u00a0 A huge part of the Exemplar program is recognizing and encouraging behavior.\u00a0 When you consider these tokens of appreciation, think about the behaviors that were recognized, because those behaviors are what we want to encourage.\u00a0 \u00a0As a last note of bookkeeping, I do need to remind everyone that there is no replacement plan for lost\/missing or damaged mailings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Until Next Time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 26px\">Well folks, barring an unforeseen emergency, the next time you will hear from me will be announcing the start of Wave 4, followed by the release of the Wave 3 recognitions;\u00a0 Maybe a few other surprises shortly after as well.\u00a0 Till then keep any eye out for exemplary behavior in your fellow judges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By now, Wave 3 has closed.
