\"\"Some time ago on this very blog I wrote about what it felt like to be <\/span>recruited by Captain America himself<\/span><\/a> to be a part of The Avengers. A little over two years after being recruited, Cap<\/a><\/span><\/span> asked if I\u2019d like to pick up the shield. (Riki insists that he\u2019s Nick Fury, but this is my article so we\u2019re using my analogy.) <\/span><\/p>\n

I quickly accepted the shield and got to work on polishing it. So what shield am I talking about? <\/span>The Feedback Loop<\/span><\/i>? Sure, that\u2019s part of it. But it\u2019s more than that.<\/span>

\n<\/span>What if the shield was feedback?<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Stick with me on this one — it\u2019s been said that our feedback culture as a program is broken. Personally, I think that\u2019s half true. I think our feedback culture is <\/span>unfinished<\/span><\/i>. Lots of our teaching and philosophy is about giving feedback. Writing the reviews, submitting the exemplar recognitions, evaluating candidates. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What about the other half? I don\u2019t think we are taught enough how to receive feedback, how to accept criticism. We aren\u2019t learning how to complete the feedback <\/span>loop<\/span><\/i>. We aren\u2019t learning how to catch the shield.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because the shield comes <\/span><\/i>back.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

So what does that mean for <\/span>The Feedback Loop<\/span><\/i>? It means that we\u2019re going to be talking about learning to take criticism and sharing stories about receiving feedback. It means that we\u2019re going to be looking for people who want to <\/span>share<\/span><\/i> those stories with us, people that want to talk about how feedback impacts their judging and their lives. It means that we\u2019re going to be exploring concepts like two-way feedback mentorships, diving back into <\/span>accountabilibuddies<\/span><\/a>, and probably making up other words along the way. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It means that we\u2019re going to be the best resource that we can be for the judge program to finish building our feedback culture. We\u2019ve teamed up with <\/span>the Coaching Sphere<\/span><\/a> to help bolster and spread thoughts on feedback from around the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re here to help you throw the shield <\/span>and catch<\/span><\/i> it when it comes back.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
