Hello Friends!<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Today I\u2019m going to talk about the Great Lakes Regional Leadership structure. I have spent a lot of time reviewing the various leadership structures in other regions and have come to what I believe will work best for our region. Is it perfect? Of course not! Over time I expect to receive feedback from each of you with ways that we can improve our leadership structure to best serve the region\u2019s needs.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The Leadership<\/b><\/p>\n

John Temple<\/a><\/span><\/span> – Regional Coordinator US-Great Lakes<\/span>
\n<\/span>Meg Baum<\/a><\/span><\/span> – L3<\/span>
\n<\/span>David Rappaport<\/a><\/span><\/span> – L3<\/span>
\n<\/span>Jarrod Williams<\/a><\/span><\/span> – L3<\/span>
\n<\/span>Meg Baum<\/a><\/span><\/span> – Mentorship Project Lead<\/span>
\n<\/span>David Elden<\/a><\/span><\/span> – Conference Project Lead<\/span>
\n<\/span>Alex Smith<\/a><\/span><\/span> – Communications Project Lead<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>This group represents the leadership of the Great Lakes region. Each of these people have come forward with a strong plan of how to run an aspect of the region through our three projects or have demonstrated high levels of leadership through the L3 process and in some cases both!<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>How does Leadership work? What do they do?<\/b><\/p>\n

In our region the leadership group exists to assist each of you when you have any problems. That\u2019s everything from, \u201cWhere can I find the upcoming GP schedule?\u201d to \u201cHow do I become an L3?\u201d They function as leaders of projects, the program, and as experts on where to find things within the program or who to go to when looking for answers. So when asking how do they work it\u2019s through answering your questions.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The second part of their role is to advise me when I\u2019m making decisions within the region. This service to our region is invaluable to me as it allows me to make solid informed decisions that have been vetted by a group of highly knowledgeable L2+ from various portions of our region. Ultimately the direction, goals, and decisions for our region are my responsibility to make and with this groups guidance and advice I am able to make solid sound decisions in the best interests of the members of the Great Lakes region.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>What do I want to see from Leadership in the future?<\/b><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. More diversity in terms of regional representation and traditionally underrepresented populations. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. More public communication about their goals for projects and ongoing initiatives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Final Thoughts<\/b><\/p>\n

    Is this system perfect? Going back to my above answer, no. We will need to work and iterate to come up with a system that works best for the members of this region. However, with your feedback and thoughts I believe that we can improve and further meet the needs of our amazing region!<\/span>
