Nomination Statement
Hi! I’m an L2 living in South Florida. I’ve been judging for about 15 years now, so I have served under multiple programs and am happy to apply for a position for a program that seeks the serve US – the judges. My plan is to stick with the responsibilities outlined in the Judge Foundry announcement of this position. I will attempt to represent my region to the board and lobby for any need that is unmet. I hope to expand my judge circle to include judges from every state and area in the region so that I can most accurately represent it.
At the end of your first six months as Regional Advocate, what does “success” look like?
Contact… If my list of contacts increases by more than a quarter of the number of judges in my region, that would be wonderful. Obviously, I want to let voices be heard, but if I am unable to hear the voices of those in the region, the representation will be lacking. Longer term goals will depend very much on what the judges in the region say they need.
What skills/experience do you bring to the role of Regional Advocate?
Over the past 3 years (since the pandemic), I have hosted 1-2 judge classes per year to increase the judge presence in my local community. Many of the judges in South Florida already look up to me as a leader and someone who works hard to make the community a better place.
Describe your plans to recruit and utilize Area Communicators.
The less local an area is, the harder it will be to truly understand all the needs of that community. I will rely on ACs to let me know of the needs of their area, so that I may better educate the board and other decision making individuals. My only plan at this time to recruit ACs revolves around friendships and interactions I have had with other judges over the years as well as any future interactions I will have. I attend at least 6 large events per year, and once elected, I will make it a priority of mine to introduce myself as the RA to any judges in my region.
