When did you become a Judge?<\/strong>
\nBeginning of 2008<\/em><\/p>\n

Why did you become a Judge?<\/strong>
\nA friend of mine, Level 2 Judge S\u00e9bastien Grass<\/a><\/span><\/span>, asked me if instead of playing one of his Pre-releases, would I\u2019d rather judge it. I was very appealed by the \u201crules\u201d aspect of judging \u2013 so I tried once, then twice\u2026 then dozens of times.
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

What advice would you give to members of your region?<\/strong>
\nAlways see judging as a leisure and time that you spend to have fun. You are here to help players to have a good time, but never forget to also share those good times.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Alexis-Rassel-giving-Feedback\"<\/a><\/em>What advice would you give to a Judge growing up through the program?<\/strong>
\nDo not be afraid to talk to as many people as you can about your goals and your ambition. Experienced judges are full of advice \u2013 but if you stay hidden, there\u2019s nothing we can do for you.<\/em><\/p>\n

Could you recognize a few outstanding members of your region?<\/strong>
\nMy region is full of awesome judges, at every scale of the program.
\nWe have level 4 Kevin Desprez<\/a><\/span><\/span>, among the best Grand Prix Head Judges of the world. Also level 3 and NetRep Daniel Kitachewsky<\/a><\/span><\/span>, one of the foremost rules experts.
\nTwo level 2 judges, Fran\u00e7ois Grossi<\/a><\/span><\/span> and Sophie Pag\u00e8s<\/a><\/span><\/span>, who are leading many community projects.
\nAnd more than 100 level 1 and level 2 judges, who run the game every day in our stores.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the coolest event you ever been to?<\/strong>
\nIt\u2019s quite hard to pick only one:
\n2009 World Championship in Rome, Italy was an amazing experience \u2013 one of my very first big events.
\n2010 World Championship in Chiba, Japan where I became level 3.
\n2011 French Nationals in La Rochelle in front of the Ocean.
\n2012 Bazaar of Moxen in Annecy, my hugest tournament as Head Judge.<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the farthest you have ever traveled for a Magic event?\"Alexis-Rassel-at-Bazzar-of-Moxen\"<\/a><\/strong>
\n2012 Pro Tour Honolulu: 12000 km!<\/em><\/p>\n

Does your family travel with you?<\/strong>
\nNo \u2013 only friends.<\/em><\/p>\n

How do you not lose your mind as a RC?<\/strong>
\nRefer to my answer on what advice I would give a judge in my region!<\/em><\/p>\n

What do you feel needs to be improved in the Judge program?<\/strong>
\nJudge apps should be able to handle Exams and reviews, as DCIX is quite inefficient today.<\/em><\/p>\n

What motivates you to continue being a judge?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m still having fun during events, I met most of my best friends within the program, I travel a lot\u2026 that\u2019s more than enough to continue.<\/em> \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

What hobbies do you have outside of Magic?<\/strong>
\nI travel a lot and I also enjoy reading and going to the theater. And I play many other games: board games, video games\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

How often do you Travel for Magic?<\/strong>
\nI travel two or three times a year for long trips (US or Asia) and once a month for European GPs. I go to French PTQs twice a month.<\/em><\/p>\n

What are some of your Regional Goals?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019d like to have level 2 judges more involved in the certification of new level 1 judges. I\u2019d also like to have judges in some part of France, which are quite empty.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tell us an embarrassing story that you\u2019re not afraid of everyone knowing.<\/strong>
\nIt happened several times that I booked a flight for the wrong day (or wrong month) in order to go to Magic events\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

How has being a Magic Judge influenced your non-Magic life?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m a teacher and there are lots of similarities between teaching and judging. Being a judge improved my explanation skills.
\nAlso, all my closest friends today are linked to the program \u2013 and they have a huge influence in my life.<\/em><\/p>\n

What is the worst tournament you have judged?<\/strong>
\nGP Paris – 2009. Public Events on Sunday went terrible. We were such a small team that we were not able to have a lunch break before 3PM. I spent my time hearing judges and players complaining about the venue and how events were handled.<\/em><\/p>\n
