Arthur and Neil are playing in a Modern PPTQ. At the end of Arthur’s turn, Neil taps out to cast Peer Through Depths<\/a>. Arthur responds with Dispel<\/a>. Neil responds with Pact of Negation<\/a>. Arthur thinks for a moment, then casts Spell Pierce<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Neil pauses, says \u201cAh, nuts\u2026\u201d then puts his spells in his graveyard. Arthur does the same.<\/p>\n

Neil untaps and draws for his turn.<\/p>\n

Arthur says, \u201cYou didn’t pay for Pact.\u201d
\nNeil replies, \u201cYou Spell Pierced it.\u201d
\n\u201cNo, I Pierced the Peer Through Depths.\u201d

Nothing happened that would result in a warning or back-up, educate the players about the Tournament Shortcut and the need to be clear in communicating intended game actions, and have the players continue.[\/expand]<\/p>\n
