Highlights from Exemplar Wave 9 – Europe-North

We have a lot of awesome judges in the Europe-North region. We have yet again searched through the Exemplar Program – Wave 9, and found some recognitions that we want to highlight.

First of congratulations on making L2! Secondly, every time we have worked together, you have been such a positive influence and you take your role very serious. Especially during the BSK weekend, when we had alot of issues, you always looked at them with a smile and that was inspiring! Instead of being frustrated with the problems, you made sure that all judges had a positive mindset. Even through you were L1 at the time, I felt that I learned alot from you. Thank you for everything!

One thing that judges notice is your mindset when things go wrong. If everybody is looking at the glass half-full instead of half-empty, the tournament goes so much smoother! It is clear that Jesper made things easier for everybody with his mindset and Anton noticed. Good job Jesper, and congratulations on making L2!

Dear Sune. Since I met you, you’ve always been willing to learn. Often, you’ve learned fast. I still remember your very first event as judge candidate: For unfortunate reasons, you had no opponent. Rather than spending your time relaxing, you answered rules questions as well as entered the results into WER. This helped all of the other judges at that event. Your actions made the event more enjoyable for everyone else. In addition to all of this, at the last GPT that were also your very first event as a certified judge, we had twice as many players as we expected. You were quick to incorporate and learn both printing pairings, posting and learning more about WER. You might have been overwhelmed by all the new expectations set forth by myself and another judge. You handled this amazingly well and really took responsibilty for the GPT. Thanks for doing an amazing job. Regards Gilbert

Working great and efficient at tournaments is something that gets noticed, and Sune was remarkable as he learned extremely fast and was a great asset to the judge team even though he was a new judge. GO SUNE!

Lars Harald, I want to recognize you for your fantastic work with organizing the quarterly judge Skype calls. Not only is the prepared material you bring excellent; you also guide the participants through it in a friendly and clear manner. I would also like to emphasize on the social aspect of these calls. It is not very common for L1 judges to travel outside their city for events, and the skype calls let L1’s from all around the country get to know each other. Your work is of great importance, thank you for your continued effort!

It’s strange to comment on your own recognition, but I’ll give it a shot. Thank you Håkon! I appreciate that you recognize the amount of work I put into having the quarterly Skype calls for norwegian judges. I find them very educational (both when making them and presenting) and social, so I’ll probably do it until someone begs me to stop.

Thank you for joining us in learning from some of the exemplary actions of judges in our region! Exemplar Wave #10 is open and closes august 1st (yikes!). If you have any recognitions to give, enter them when the situation arises. If you know of any exemplary actions but can’t give recognitions yourself, please contact your local L2 or L3!
