Some may require judges to wear the official black judge shirt, while others have their own staff shirts. Tournament Organizers may have additional expectations regarding accessories and grooming in general. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>The black judge shirt<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The official black judge shirt is worn at MagicFests and other Competitive events. The shirt can also be worn when representing the Judge Program outside tournaments, for example on instructional videos or at conventions and similar events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4775\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_black.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Judge Program recommends following these guidelines when wearing the black shirt. These general guidelines also apply when wearing other types of judge shirts (Pro Tour shirts, Tournament Organizer\u2019s own staff shirts). If a Tournament Organizer\u2019s dress code contradicts these guidelines, the TO\u2019s dress code takes precedence. <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The shirt should be worn with black pants (with belt) or skirt\/kilt, and predominantly black shoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The shirt should be clean and wrinkle-free. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The men\u2019s cut shirt should be worn tucked in. The women\u2019s cut shirt can be worn untucked. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Excessive amounts of badges, pins, extra name tags etc. are not recommended. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visible undershirts and accessories (scarves, etc) should be black or other \u201cneutral\u201d color. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water bottles can be carried clipped to the belt, but judges should be careful with them when moving through narrow aisles to avoid causing discomfort to players. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consider removing or covering your judge shirt when you are on a break, as it may confuse players who are looking for a judge to help them. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do not wear the official shirt if you are also playing in the event you are judging. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Never wear the official Magic judge shirt while officiating a tournament for a different game.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Alternatives to the official shirt<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you do not have an official shirt but need something to wear to a Competitive event where everyone else is wearing official shirts, a plain black dress shirt is a good option. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regional judge shirts (often featuring the Judge logo and the Region name, may feature colors other than black) are also an option if approved by the tournament organizer. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Mythic Championship\/Pro Tour judge shirts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wizards of the Coast provides grey and black (orange and black for Head Judges and Appeal Judges) shirts for the judge staff. These shirts should not be worn at other events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4784 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_pt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Other shirts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Burgundy shirt<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Head Judges and Appeal Judges at Grand Prix events wear a burgundy shirt. It should not be worn at other events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4781\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_red.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>The Blue shirt<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regional Coordinators wear a blue shirt when performing official Regional Coordinator duties at tournaments or conferences. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4776\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_blue.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Old shirts<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the years, various different types of judge shirts have been used at Grand Prix and Pro Tour events. Most of these should no longer be worn as part of a judge uniform. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Black shirt with DCI logo<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identical to the current shirt, except that it features the DCI logo instead of the Magic Judge logo. This version of the shirt can be worn at local events. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4777\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_dci.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>\u201cZebra stripes\u201d shirt<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The black and white striped polo was the Judge Program\u2019s official uniform for a decade. A red and black version was used by Head Judges. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4782\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_zebra.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Black DCI polo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Black polo shirts with the DCI or Magic logo were used at Grand Prix events in some parts of the world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4780\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_polo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Purple shirt<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Purple T-shirts with the word \u201cjudge\u201d in yellow were sometimes given to trainee judges at Grand Prix events. <\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Pro Tour Honolulu and Pro Tour Kuala Lumpur shirts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Special shirts were made for the staff of certain Pro Tours.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_hawaii2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/o\/files\/2019\/02\/shirt_hawaii.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Judge Uniform Guidelines In general, Tournament Organizers decide what their judges and other event staff should wear.
