Purpose

On JudgeApps, The Multiverse Project’s official description says that

The Multiverse Project is a diversity project focused on publishing featured judges and players from minority groups to show the difficulties they had or still have from their point of view.”

But what does this really mean?

In our opinion, the role of The Multiverse Project is a refined and focused one. We aim not to necessarily provide answers for given problems, but rather stimulate discussion about issues in the Magic: The Gathering community.

We believe that the more voices in a discussion, and the more diversity in those voices, allows for a more complex and sophisticated discussion, where the ideas that are best can rise to the top and become enacted on.

We at The Multiverse Project aren’t rash enough to think that we have all the answers. In fact, we don’t believe we have any answers. We have ideas, and we have the means to discuss those ideas.

We’d like to emphasize the following: We are not here to push an agenda. In fact, The Multiverse Project is made up of many individuals, all of whom possess very different experiences and opinions. What we do share, however, is the belief that we can make Magic: The Gathering a better game by making it more inclusive.

If you don’t think that increased diversity in Magic is positive, The Multiverse Project may not be the blog for you. But if you believe that a larger playerbase, increased turnout, more competitive events, and increased Magic brand recognition are positive factors, The Panda Project is here to help you share your ideas about inclusiveness in the game we love.

A few notes:

  • Being respectful is incredibly important. People form opinions are based on experience (or lack thereof) and to invalidate someone’s experience is rude and uncalled for. We’d like to keep the discussion as vibrant as possible, but it’s very hard to justify open vitriol towards other people.
  • Please be aware that advice may not be applicable everywhere. While we all can learn from others, we can’t necessarily translate advice into our lives without adjustment. Context is important.
  • If you have an idea or experience you’d like to share, please email us at themultiverseproject@gmail.com.

All of this goes to say that The Multiverse Project is what you, the users make of it. Discussion is not a one person ordeal. We can’t do it alone. We encourage you to check out our Twitter, our RSS Feed, and our Reddit. We encourage discussion on Reddit and in the comment sections on the blog.

If you have any questions please contact us at pandaprojectmtg@gmail.com. Thanks!
