Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when Wizards of the Coast attacked and turned the nations into cardboard rectangles. That&#8217;s right, folks, we&#8217;re riding our sky bison into another Universes Beyond set, this time featuring one of the best cartoons Nickelodeon&#8217;s ever produced. This set has fewer Missed Trigger upgrades than most, but they&#8217;re still worth talking about! Ready, gaang? Yip yip!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Four cards have one or more triggers that upgrade to a Warning when missed:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/files\/2025\/11\/tla-100-fire-navy-trebuchet.jpg\" alt=\"Magic the Gathering card: Fire Navy Trebuchet\" class=\"wp-image-11046\" style=\"width:300px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Fire+Navy+Trebuchet&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Fire Navy Trebuchet<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201c[Whenever you attack, make a token]. Sacrifice that token at the beginning of the next end step.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Foggy+Swamp+Visions&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Foggy Swamp Visions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201c[Make tokens]. At the beginning of your next end step, sacrifice those tokens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This set&#8217;s tried and true &#8220;make a token and get rid of it later&#8221; triggers, but this time they&#8217;re in <i>black<\/i> instead of red! As usual, having more creatures is better than having fewer. If a player forgets to sacrifice the tokens either of these triggers created in the end step, they&#8217;ll earn a Warning.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Mai%2C+Scornful+Striker&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Mai, Scornful Striker<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201cWhenever a player casts a noncreature spell, they lose 2 life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <b>symmetrical<\/b> trigger doesn&#8217;t care who does the spellcasting, just that they&#8217;re punished for doing so. If a player forgets to remind their opponent to lose life, no harm no foul. But if that same player forgets to lose life when they cast their own <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Energybending&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Energybending<\/a> or some other noncreature spell, they&#8217;ll earn a Warning.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Tiger-Seal&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Tiger-Seal<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201cAt the beginning of your upkeep, tap this creature.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p>A 3\/3 for one mana is <i>great<\/i>, so of course it comes with a bit of a drawback. Forgetting to tap this creature at the beginning of your upkeep will earn a Warning. Of course, note that if the creature is already tapped, you don&#8217;t need to acknowledge this trigger at all.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Two notable cards have a trigger that does <em>NOT<\/em> upgrade when missed:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/files\/2025\/11\/tla-236-platypus-bear.jpg\" alt=\"Magic the Gathering card: Platypus-Bear.\" class=\"wp-image-11047\" style=\"width:300px;height:auto\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>1. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Platypus-Bear&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Platypus-Bear<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201cWhen this creature enters, mill two cards.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-mill <i>can be<\/i> considered generally detrimental, but not in this case. Platypus-Bear&#8217;s last ability directly benefits from having more cards in the graveyard, so the self-mill trigger is not detrimental in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Bender%26%238217%3Bs+Waterskin&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Bender&#8217;s Waterskin<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-left:2em\">\u201cUntap this artifact during each other player&#8217;s untap step.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This one&#8217;s not a trigger at all! If a player forgets to untap this artifact during another turn, treat it like a Game Rule Violation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Much like the show it&#8217;s named after, this edition of the Missed Triggers Guide is a little short. But also like the show, we&#8217;ll have a Missed Triggers Guide sequel in a few months! We&#8217;re making a thrilling return to Lorwyn, of all places.
