For example, while it is a completely legal play to cast Grip aimed at your opponent\u2019s Standstill<\/a>, it is a very BAD play. Since it has Split Second, your opponent can\u2019t respond with spells or activated abilities, so it\u2019s one of the few surefire ways to get rid of a Sensei\u2019s Divining Top without them just spinning it to the top of their deck. But while powerful, it\u2019s not unstoppable. Split Second doesn\u2019t preclude triggers from triggering, so anything that would trigger from Grip being cast still triggers.<\/p>\n
