Now that Theros cards are in the hands of many a Magic player thanks to the prerelease, there’s plenty of questions to be had! One of the most common questions that came up over the prerelease weekend was “What happens if the target of my Bestow spell becomes illegal?”<\/p>\n
For example, I flash in Boon Satyr<\/a> trying to enchant my Favored Hoplite<\/a> at the end of your turn, but you have a Doom Blade<\/a> for my creature. Did I just get 2-for-1’d? Not so! With any other targeted spell or ability (including normal Auras), I will lose both cards, as the spell ‘fizzles’ when it goes to resolve and has no legal target. But there’s special rules for the Bestow cards that make it so they still resolve -as creatures!- if their target is illegal as they resolve.
