It won&#8217;t remove the artifact card type from an artifact land or remove the legendary supertype from a legendary land.<br \/>\nIf an affected land has an ability that triggers &#8220;when&#8221; it enters the battlefield, it will lose that ability before it triggers.<br \/>\nIf an affected land has an ability that causes it to enter the battlefield tapped, it will lose that ability before it applies. The same is also true of any other abilities that modify how a land enters the battlefield or apply &#8220;as&#8221; a land enters the battlefield.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relevant reference from the CR<\/strong><br \/>\nCR 205.3i Lands have their own unique set of subtypes; these subtypes are called land types. The land types are Desert, Forest, Gate, Island, Lair, Locus, Mine, Mountain, Plains, Power-Plant, Swamp, Tower, and Urza\u2019s.:: Of that list, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Forest&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Forest<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Island&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Island<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Mountain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Mountain<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Plains&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Plains<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Swamp&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Swamp<\/a> are the basic land types. See rule 305.6.<br \/>\nCR 300.1. The card types are artifact, conspiracy, creature, enchantment, instant, land, phenomenon, plane, planeswalker, scheme, sorcery, tribal, and vanguard.<br \/>\nCR 305.5. Land subtypes are always a single word and are listed after a long dash. Land subtypes are also called land types. Lands may have multiple subtypes. See rule 205.3i for the complete list of land types.<br \/>\nExample: \u201cBasic Land \u2014 Mountain\u201d means the card is a land with the subtype Mountain.<br \/>\nExamples with commonly played non basic lands<br \/>\nNote that all examples are assuming the named land is controlled by the opponent of the owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Urza Tron bloomed the Alpine Moon<\/strong><br \/>\nRight away we see what happens when there is an Alpine Moon naming <p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Urza%27s Tower'><\/p>.<br \/>\nUrza\u2019s Tower (Name of Land) will lose its Urza\u2019s and Tower Type (same for Urza\u2019s &amp; Mine and Urza\u2019s &amp; Power-Plant for <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Mine&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Mine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Power+Plant&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Power Plant<\/a> respectively). It retains its Card Type: Land<br \/>\nIt will also lose its ability to tap for C and gain the ability to tap for any colour instead.<br \/>\nIt would seem that natural forces have a keen dislike of Urza and his stuff, just ask Multani!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arboriculture<\/strong><br \/>\nSo with the Alpine Moon, <p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Dryad Arbor'><\/p> will<br \/>\nLose its Forest type but retain its Dryad type<br \/>\nGain the ability to tap for any colour<br \/>\nIs still Green 1\/1 creature (Green is now a colour indicator on Arbor)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soul by Moon<\/strong><br \/>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Cavern of Souls'><\/p><br \/>\nWhen <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a> is in play choosing Spirit and an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> resolves naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a> will lose both its ability to generate C and the rainbow colour specifically for creatures.<br \/>\nWhen <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> is in play naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a>, you do not get to choose a creature type when placing <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a> into play as that ability has been removed by <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a>.<br \/>\nEither way, with <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Cavern+of+Souls&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Cavern of name=\"\">Cavern of Souls<\/a> will just be able to produce mana of any colour for any type of spell and those spells can be countered<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shockland Tapland Triland<\/strong><br \/>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Hallowed Fountain'><\/p><\/p>\n<p>This is where <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> turbo charges all forms of duals like shocklands and tapped lands.<br \/>\nAn <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> naming say <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Hallowed+Fountain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Hallowed Fountain<\/a> and you play a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Hallowed+Fountain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Hallowed Fountain<\/a>, it will come into play untapped (without life payment) and be able to tap for any colour of mana!<br \/>\nHowever <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> also removes the land types from the shockland, which in this case both Plains and Island. Say no to <p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Choke'><\/p> and <p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Boil'><\/p> shenanigans with Alpine Moon!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Darksteel Weaksteel<\/strong><br \/>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Darksteel Citadel'><\/p><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Darksteel+Citadel&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Darksteel Citadel<\/a> once again cannot withstand the effects of neither the Sun nor Moon.<br \/>\nWith <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Darksteel+Citadel&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Darksteel Citadel<\/a>,<br \/>\nIt will lose its Indestructibility and its ability to produce C.<br \/>\nIt is still an Artifact Land and can produce any colour of mana.<br \/>\nWeirder interactions<br \/>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Dark Depths'><\/p><br \/>\nWith <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> loses its ability to remove an ice counter and will keep stopping Marit Lage card from gaining her freedom. It will now be able to tap for any colour of mana.<br \/>\nHowever if <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> is in play and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> enters the battlefield, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> will melt all the ice and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> will ETB with no ice counters as this ability is removed. Once the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> naming <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> is removed, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a>\u2019 state trigger will trigger and release Marit Lage upon your foes!<\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale'><\/p>\n<p>The ability adding of <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=The+Tabernacle+at+Pendrell+Vale&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale<\/a> is also in layer 6 similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a>. Also applying the other (Alpine Moon) would change the text or the existence of the first effect (Tabernacle) (CR613.7a). Hence Tabernacle is dependent on Alpine Moon. We refer to CR613.7 If a dependency exists, it will override the timestamp system. Hence it does not matter if <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> or Tabernacle is in play first. Once <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> is in play, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> will remove The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale\u2019s ability.<br \/>\nTabernacle however will be able to tap for any colour of mana!<br \/>\nHow to identify dependencies?<br \/>\nFor something to qualify as a dependency, the effect cannot be a \u201ccharacteristic-defining ability,\u201d and must apply in the same layer that the effect it \u201cdepends on\u201d is applying. Effect A is said to depend on Effect B if:<br \/>\nApplying B first would cause A to no longer apply.<br \/>\nApplying B first would change what A would apply to.<br \/>\nApplying B first would change how A applies to the things it applies to.<\/p>\n<p><p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth'><\/p><br \/>\nThe Great Father of Machines, Yawgmoth has no fear of the Moon! Why? While <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> affects layer 6 ability removal, Urborg applies in layer 4 of type-changing ability. Put together, Urborg adds the Swamp subtype to all lands including itself (layer 4) then <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> removes this ability (layer 6) which happens after Urborg has infected all the lands with Yawgmoth\u2019s touch! Therefore you end up with Urborg with no abilities that is not a Swamp (Because <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Alpine+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Alpine Moon<\/a> removes this land type) which can tap for any colour and Phyrexian infected lands everywhere on the battlefield! <\/p>\n<p><strong>Interactions with fellow Sun and Moon<\/strong><br \/>\nHow about Alpine Moon\u2019s interactions with its sisters <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Sun&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Sun<\/a>? Blood Sun has been discussed here in depth earlier by the way: <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/2018\/03\/17\/delving-deeper-blood-sun\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Delving Deeper&#8230; Blood Sun<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Two Moons<\/strong><br \/>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Blood Moon'><\/p><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> applies in layer 4 (type-changing effects).
