A Saga Land namely <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a>, will have its interactions with Moon effects updated.<\/p>\n<p><b class=\"html-b xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r xexx8yu x4uap5 x18d9i69 xkhd6sd x1hl2dhg x16tdsg8 x1vvkbs\"><p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Urza%27s Saga'><\/p><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s say we have an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a> in play at Chapter 2 with both its Chapter 1 and 2 triggered abilities resolved. A <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> comes into play. It would lose its chapter abilities and would not be subjected to the SBA check to sacrifice it due to having no Chapter abilities. The turn-based action of adding a Lore counter at the beginning of the first main phase would not happen either.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How about the abilities or <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a>?<\/strong> Actually <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a> can tap for <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/static.wikia.nocookie.net\/mtgsalvation_gamepedia\/images\/8\/87\/R.svg\/revision\/latest\/scale-to-width-down\/200?cb=20160125094913\" alt=\"Red - MTG Wiki\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/> as it is a Mountain, tap for <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/static.wikia.nocookie.net\/mtgsalvation_gamepedia\/images\/1\/1a\/C.svg\/revision\/latest\/scale-to-width-down\/200?cb=20160121092204\" alt=\"Colorless - MTG Wiki\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/> from its 1st Chapter ability and <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSAz92l_ygScvZZ0_tl-nEPcPdRw0khPUJH5pauT-VDm0BzZzuvfe1AuhKWudklBkeDIUI&amp;usqp=CAU\" alt=\"File:MTG (2).svg - Wikimedia Commons\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/>\u00a0tap to create a Karnstruct token from its Chapter 2 ability. Why?<\/p>\n<p>This is due to CR<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/cr305\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 305.7<\/a> If an effect sets a land\u2019s subtype to one or more of the basic land types, the land no longer has its old land type. It loses all abilities generated from its rules text, its old land types, and any copiable effects affecting that land, and it gains the appropriate mana ability for each new basic land type. Note that this doesn\u2019t remove any abilities that were granted to the land by other effects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How about with <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> in play and we play an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Urza%26%238217%3Bs+Saga&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Urza&#8217;s Saga<\/a> will just ETB with no Chapter abilities, no TBA of adding Lore counters at beginning of precombat main phase and is an Enchantment Mountain that taps for <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/static.wikia.nocookie.net\/mtgsalvation_gamepedia\/images\/8\/87\/R.svg\/revision\/latest\/scale-to-width-down\/200?cb=20160125094913\" alt=\"Red - MTG Wiki\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/>.<\/p>\n<p>As per <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/cr714\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CR714.3a<\/a>, the Urza&#8217;s Saga will still etb with a lore counter with Blood Moon in play but the tap to add <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/static.wikia.nocookie.net\/mtgsalvation_gamepedia\/images\/1\/1a\/C.svg\/revision\/latest\/scale-to-width-down\/200?cb=20160121092204\" alt=\"Colorless - MTG Wiki\" width=\"21\" height=\"21\" \/>\u00a0Chapter 1 ability does not trigger.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In this final segment of the Sun &amp; Moon series, we come to look at the final piece of the puzzle:<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a>. You can refer to the All about <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/2018\/07\/12\/delving-deeper-all-about-alpine-moon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alpine Moon<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/2018\/03\/17\/delving-deeper-blood-sun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Blood Sun<\/a> by clicking on their respective hyperlinks.<\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Blood Moon'><\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s start with its most updated Oracle Text:<br \/>\nNonbasic lands are Mountains.<br \/>\nYup 1 sentence 4 words but a whole load of headache for you and me!<\/p>\n<p>Also the Gatherer rulings:<br \/>\n* If a nonbasic land has an ability that causes it to enter the battlefield tapped, it will lose that ability before it applies. The same is also true of any other abilities that modify how a land enters the battlefield or apply \u201cas\u201d a land enters the battlefield, such as the first ability of Cavern of Souls. This is a change from previous rulings.<br \/>\n* Nonbasic lands will lose any other land types and abilities they had. They will gain the land type Mountain and gain the ability \u201cTap: Add Red.\u201d<br \/>\n* This effect doesn\u2019t affect names or supertypes. It won\u2019t turn any land into a basic land or remove the legendary supertype from a legendary land, and the lands won\u2019t be named \u201cMountain.\u201d<br \/>\n*If a nonbasic land has an ability that triggers \u201cwhen\u201d it enters the battlefield, it will lose that ability before it triggers.<\/p>\n<p>Before we delve deeper into the actual interactions between <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> and other cards, let\u2019s see which segment of the Layer system does <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> uses:<\/p>\n<p><strong>CR <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/rules\/cr613\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">613.1d<\/a> Layer 4: Type-changing effects are applied. These include effects that change an object\u2019s card type, subtype, and\/or supertype.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This means <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> will make all nonbasic lands into Mountains. These lands loses all their other land types and abilities but keep their other non-land types and supertypes. The lands will remain being nonbasic lands despite gaining a basic land type.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Scenarios where there are type changing\/adding involved<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Prismatic Omen'><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Prismatic+Omen&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Prismatic Omen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> both work in Layer 4 hence we use the timestamp system. If <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> is in play first then <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Prismatic+Omen&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Prismatic Omen<\/a> will override <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> to make all lands you control have all basic land types and vice versa.<\/p>\n<p>Do take note that <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a>&#8216;s type setting effect will still cause nonbasic lands to lose their other printed abilities. They will be able to however tap for any colour if <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Prismatic+Omen&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Prismatic Omen<\/a> has the latest timestamp as they continue to have every basic land type.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interaction with Lands with abilities<br \/>\nLands with abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Hallowed Fountain'><\/p>\n<p>Your Shockland will enter the battlefield untapped as <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> removes Shockland\u2019s ability that makes it enter the battlefield tapped unless you pay 2 life. You cannot pay 2 life even if you want to as the ability is removed due to the CR update in Ixalan.<\/p>\n<p>For this instance, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Hallowed+Fountain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Hallowed Fountain<\/a> will enter play without \u201cshocking you\u201d, is untapped and is a nonbasic Mountain that taps for Red.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lands that comes into play with counters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Gemstone Mine'><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> will cause <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Gemstone+Mine&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Gemstone Mine<\/a> to enter play without any Mining counters and its mana ability is replaced with tap for red.<\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Dark Depths'><\/p>\n<p>Similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> will cause <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> to enter play without any Ice counters. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> will lose its ability to pay 3 generic mana to remove an Ice counter and its ability to free Marit Lage from her prison. It however retains its Legendary and Snow Supertype and hence will be able to tap for red snow mana.<\/p>\n<p>However once the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> is removed from play, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dark+Depths&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dark Depths<\/a> seeing no Ice counters to hold Marit Lage back will release the 20\/20 behemoth into the world!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dryad Arboriculture <\/strong><\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dryad+Arbor&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dryad Arbor<\/a>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> in play, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dryad+Arbor&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dryad Arbor<\/a> will still be a Dryad creature with the ability to tap for red mana. It will still be green.because it has a green color indicator which is not removed when <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Dryad+Arbor&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Dryad Arbor<\/a> becomes a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Mountain&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Mountain<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> does not operate on Layer 5 Colour-changing effects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lands of Artifice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Darksteel Citadel'><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> will remove all of the lands\u2019s abilities and change it into a Mountain that taps for red. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Darksteel+Citadel&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Darksteel Citadel<\/a> also loses its Indestructible ability.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Darksteel+Citadel&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Darksteel Citadel<\/a> and other artifact lands affect by Blood Moon still retains their artifact type.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manlands<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img  class='lems-mtg-cardimg' src='http:\/\/gatherer.wizards.com\/Handlers\/Image.ashx?size=small&type=card&name=Shambling Vent'><\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> in play, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Shambling+Vent&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Shambling Vent<\/a> and other manlands will lose their animation ability together with their other abilities and be a nonbasic Mountain that taps for red.<\/p>\n<p>However if <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Shambling+Vent&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Shambling Vent<\/a> is a creature and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.magicjudges.org\/searegion\/wp-content\/plugins\/lems-mtg-helper\/lems-mtg-helper-cardfinder.php?find=Blood+Moon&width=223&height=310\" class=\"jTip\" name=\"\">Blood Moon<\/a> enters play after it was animated, it will still be a 2\/3 white and black creature with its Elemental subtype. It still has Lifelink as when you set a land\u2019s subtype, it loses the abilities generated by its rules text but not abilities granted by other effects.
