Angela Chandler bringing you another fantastic Exemplar from Wave 5! This week I would like to highlight an Exemplar written by Brandon Salaz<\/a> for Joey Valente<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Brandon<\/a>

Brandon Salaz<\/p><\/div>Brandon Salaz is an L2 from San Diego, CA. He certified as L1 in 2015 and just 5 months later certified for L2. Brandon has done a lot of work for the San Diego community since becoming a judge including working several PPTQ\u2019s and running judge classes. Tapping into his natural talent for feedback and furthering judge education, Brandon wrote the following exemplar for Joey Valente:<\/span><\/p>\n

Joey,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

While working with you at SCG Regionals, you demonstrated a great attention to detail and care about educating other judges. Whenever you saw a penalty while scorekeeping, you made sure that the penalty explanation made sense, and followed up with the judge who issued it to educate them and ensure as a team we all continued to grow.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

You also have taken a personal responsibility to ensure the quality of events at Crazy Fred’s, and you stepped up and dedicated time to find judges so that the store can begin to run larger events and increase their revenue. I believe that your recognition of the value that judges bring has been exemplary to a smaller store in our region.<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

\"Joey<\/a>

Joey Valente<\/p><\/div>Joey has been playing Magic since 1994 and certified as an L1 in 2013. He is a sports enthusiast who has always enjoyed officiating, so judging was a natural fit for him. \u00a0For Joey, judging is a bit like \u201ca puzzle inside a puzzle\u201d. He enjoys the strategy of the game and helping players fix game situations that may have gone awry during the course of play.<\/span><\/p>\n
