  • Why did you become a judge?: I’ve always liked helping players with rules questions, but I hated the phrase “”I’m not a judge, but …””. I saw the judge program as a way to provide some credibility to my words.
  • What excites you most about this event?: Getting to experience a GP for the first time (as a player or a judge)
  • What worries you most about this event?: Getting calls wrong and affecting player experience negatively.
  • What are you hoping to learn at this event?: How to interact with judges at such a large event, working together.
  • Who is your mentor?: Judge buddy is Ben Lurie.
  • What challenges have you faced or are you facing to become a better judge?: Finding time for magic, splitting my time between playing and judging, and buckling down to study.
  • How have you worked to overcome those challenges?: Taking more time off from my weekend job, applying for events to judge at and getting into a judge role at my FNM LGS, and setting expectations for myself to spend more time reading rules documents.
  • What is the best part about your local Magic community?: The size and how many LGSs/communities available to different players.
  • What is your favorite Magic memory?: My first game of RTR draft against a really animated opponent, or my first PPTQ top 8 with Haakon in Modern.

  • What excites you most about this event?: It is the first GP I am attending!
  • What is the best part about your local Magic community?: Everyone is so welcoming! When I first started playing, I walked up to a group of people I didn’t know and asked to play EDH with them, and they all welcomed me. I have met my best friends through magic.
