Beaux Bruggman

Nomination Statement

Hi everyone, my name is Beaux Bruggman, and I am a level three judge residing in Sacramento, Ca. I have been a judge for just over seven years, though I believe I really started to invest more in judging during the Judge Academy era. I immediately followed through during the transition to Judge Foundry and have been working to be more involved in the current judge program. I am actively involved in my local community. I judge and attend events on a regular basis. I believe engaging with players, stores, and other judges is a benefit to creating an excellent community. I also try to attend large events. I enjoy the comradery of the judge community at conventions style events. I have met many judges from both the United States and Canada attending large events but really want to know more judges in the Pacific West Region. As a stay-at-home dad, I have the ability and availability to do any necessary work for the region.

I see the Regional Advocate position as just what it says, someone to speak one the behalf of the region and works to helps solve larger issues. I also believe the Regional Advocate can be a resource to members of the region. Whether it be helping find mentors to new judges, providing assistance to judges who may be seeking to level up, or being a reference for judges when an issue cannot be solved locally. The Pacific West Region has numerous knowledgeable judges who can provide experience and share skills with all our members.

I am currently aware of some issues the Pacific West Region is facing from forum posts and online discussion. The region is spread out in terms of populous areas and has created an issue of testing and finding mentors for judges. I want to create better lines of open communication for members to help ease this issue. Whether it be the Facebook page, discord server, or other means. I want judges to have easy access to find other local judges to help them on their journey. Also, some of the region is literally an ocean away. I want to work to creating possible online testing for those areas where travel may be difficult. Another solution could be video testing with a proctor, to verify the test meets the requirements of Judge Foundry.

I know some of these goals and issues seem large, but I believe they are definitely solvable. I want to work with judges in the region, hear from those that have good ideas that can help the region, and be of assistance to judges working to achieve their own goals. I may still be learning about some areas of the region, but I will not let that be a hinderance if elected as Regional Advocate. I want to provide leadership and mentorship to our region and, just like with any event I am a part of, provide any member with to the best of my ability.
