Hello everyone, Brandon Agenbroad here. Today I would like to highlight John Mills’ recognition of Christopher O’Neill.
John has been playing and working at Crazy Squirrel Games store for the past seven years. While working with TJ Morrison to set up the stores Magic inventory, John found out TJ would soon be moving. John realized with TJ gone, there would be a lack of leadership in the judge community in Fresno CA. John made it his mission to become a judge and rose to become a prominent leader in his local community.
John had the following to say about Chris:
“I’d like to thank Chris for taking on the responsibility of running the Judge Classes in the Merced, CA area. His willingness to help others learn about MTG and judging is admirable.”
Chris explained how taking Judge classes had helped pave the way to him acing the L1 test and for beginning his journey into the world of Magic Judges. This translated into a desire to help give back to the community and ensure fellow Magic players had the same opportunities that he did.
Chris sat down with L2 Vicente Davis and hashed out a plan to host Judge classes in the Merced area. After reaffirming his rules knowledge, plus utilizing the Judge Wiki, Chris was off to the races. Chris has helped build our local community by preparing future Judges.
Judges shouldn’t just give out rulings and expect things to be okay. We must be willing to take the next step and educate players and judges alike to ensure a happier and more knowledgeable community. As Judges, we have the responsibility to help teach the next generation of players and Judges–they’re the future of the game and our community.
