It’s Fortunato Acosta back with another exemplary Exemplar Highlight! See what I did there? With the word play? Because I do that a lot, I should just get on with the highlight from Chris Higashi to Jordan Johnston.
Chris Higashi is an L2 from the city that never sleeps: Las Vegas! He’s been to every pre release since he’s played the game! That’s all the way back in Beta! He’s been playing Magic longer than I’ve been alive! Man, playing with Ancestral Recalls and beating down with Dwarven Warriors–the way the game was meant to be played. Speaking of playing the game it was intended: Chris adores playing Commander but with a twist. Chris likes playing the game with the original Legends Elder Dragons, eat your heart out Dragons of Tarkir! The decks also just contain cards from Alpha through The Dark. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad bit jealous of the idea.
Jordan on the other hand, is originally from San Francisco: the Golden City! He started playing back in 2001. Well, played is a real loose term, from what he said. Not exactly following any real rules, real kitchen top Magic! His time with the Judge program didn’t start till over a decade later, in 2012. His mind must really desire to deal with all the questions about the Storm mechanic for his favorite card to be Mind’s Desire, don’t know about everyone else but these questions always proliferate around here. Good thing that Proliferate is also his favorite mechanic. Jordan also runs a charity tournament in Vegas: Chaos Draft for Charity! You can try contacting him for more information on his sweet cause.
Without more delay, the review that caught my eye!
“ I appreciate all of the time and work you have put into making Las Vegas an amazing place to Judge. You have taken extra effort in shaping a positive community for judges and players alike. And you handled our most recent debacle, “Saltgate”, with class and maturity. “
Maybe it was my heightened interest in what “Saltgate” was, which I forgot to ask about; maybe it was the fact that Jordan shaped the community culture in Vegas; maybe it was the genuine care and appreciation that you can feel just by reading the short paragraph. Whatever the reason was, I adored reading it, and I adored talking to these two individuals to get to know them a tad bit. Hopefully you enjoyed reading my piece, it wasn’t just a waste of your time. Thanks for reading! See you next time!
