Hey all Christian here with some more exemplar-y goodness! Today we are going to look at Joe Wiesenberg’s recognition of Andrea Biaggi. First let’s talk a bit about the Wies guy himself:
Joe first started playing when he was 10 years old, and had no idea what was going on in the world of Magic, but if we consider when he knew what was going on in the world he started around Lorwyn block. He got his start with judging when one David Zimet sat him down and convinced (see:badgered) him into joining the ranks in 2011 and later had a similar conversation about L2. Nowadays Joe continues with his endeavours as a judge helping the people around him and continuing to go forward with the program for the people. Now let’s take a look at his words of recognition:
“Andrea, Even though you’re a relatively new addition to the judge program, you’ve already been helping out other judges. I appreciate the work you did helping Evan shadow you at an FNM a few months ago. You also took the time to reach out to me to make sure I understood how well Daniel did keeping his PPTQ moving when the head judge was delayed. Thanks for looking out for people.”
Andrea’s first start at Magic was Ice Age for a really short period of time and then restarted in Dragon’s Maze, by just drafting and soon began playing competitively after reaching Top 8 of a PTQ during Born of the Gods. He certified for L1 on April of this very year in order to get better as a player by understanding the rules better, and enjoys helping out the community, especially new players. He loves judging pre-releases and for him seeing smiles on new players faces when he explains to them how cards work and it keeps him motivated to keep going. He also frequents Joe’s meet ups when they occur involving himself more and more with the local community!
This exemplar is a great example of where the recognition goes, it doesn’t matter whether you are new or a veteran, whether you’re L1, L2, or L3, what does matter is your actions towards the program and what you do to go far for others. Going out and giving rulings is one thing but making sure that others events are up and running and that the people around you are learning from you goes a very long way! 🙂
