Daniel here, welcome again to Exemplar Highlights, the weekly column where we recognize the amazing judges in the Southwest region! This week, we’ll be looking at a recognition written by Arizona’s Krystal Rose for that paragon of community in Southern California, Angela Chandler.
Krystal Rose is the lone L2 and Area Captain of Northern Arizona. She is no stranger to travel, both on a local and global level. In addition to working a ridiculous number of PPTQs all over Arizona, she has traveled across the Atlantic to work GP Utrecht and GP Stockholm. A prolific, well-traveled judge knows excellence when she sees it, and Krystal saw it when it came time to plan a judge conference in Arizona:
“Angie, I just want to thank you for your awesome effort put into the AZ conference, regional polos and t-shirts, recognition program, getting out previous wave exemplar packets, and every smile at each event you attend. You are an incredible light in the community, and I know I flood you with praise everytime I see you, but I wanted to make it official so everyone can see how incredible I know you are. You somehow manage to not only be an actual mom to your children, but also kind of a mom to our entire region of judges! We all look to you when something needs to be done, and I cannot wait to see you in a great position of leadership, because you really do put your heart into everything you do, and it shows. I want to emphasize how helpful you have been with the AZ conference – AZ judges lost hope that it was ever going to happen, but with you rallying the team, we finally got the app up and I am so insanely grateful for your mom skills kicking us all into gear. Keep being the amazing soul that you are – I know you are going places!”
Krystal’s description of Angela as “kind of a mom to our entire region” rings true in the hearts of many in USA – Southwest. Considering her efforts with our Southwest-branded polos and playmats, managing judge meetups, distributing exemplar packets, and her work with the Lady Planeswalker Society, I’m pretty sure she has a Time-Turner stashed away for all the work she does. Or maybe she just casts Time Stretch once a week. Either way, our community would not be the same without our Judge Mom. Krystal’s recognition does a wonderful job of detailing many of Angela’s general accomplishments while also pointing to a specific scenario, the Arizona Judge Conference in October of 2016, where Angela truly stood out as an important driving force towards bringing that idea to fruition.
