Hello and welcome back to another exciting edition of Exemplar Highlights!
I recently returned from Grand Prix Portland, and I was struck by how many judges on that event had never worked a Grand Prix before. They did an AMAZING job! To commemorate this, let’s look at an Exemplar recognition for a first-time Grand Prix judge. The author of this recognition is Jeph Foster, who worked with Robert Harrington at Grand Prix Las Vegas on On-Demand Events.
“When I worked with you in Vegas on ODEs, you were incredibly knowledgeable and had an amazing grasp on how to get things done, even though it was only your first Grand Prix. You also weren’t afraid to explain to me how the software works, even though I was a higher level than you. The program needs more people willing give advice without getting focused on the number attached to their name. Great job in Vegas, and I hope to see you at another Grand Prix soon!”
This recognition is specifically for how Robert was able to be a knowledgeable, confident asset regardless of his judge certification level and Grand Prix experience. Having this confidence in a brand-new role for you is difficult and not something we see every day. This was an exceptional quality that Robert both possessed and demonstrated and it’s a behavior that we want more judges to emulate! Jeph’s recognition was very specific and detailed, making this a solid recognition. How can your behavior help you stand out? What exceptional qualities have you seen at events? These are important things to think about when it comes to earning and writing Exemplar recognitions.
Thank you for reading, and we hope to see you in two weeks for another look at judges being exceptional!
