This is Angela Chandler coming to you straight from Wave 5 with another Exemplar Highlight.
This time, let’s take a look at the man of mystery himself, David Zimet, through the words of Christian Aguilar.
Being the Regional Coordinator, David is one of the most familiar judges in our region, yet he is swathed in the veil of mystery. His words are always well chosen and he is always the man with the plan. David joined the program in 2009 at GP Los Angeles and Regional Coordinator in 2013. Turns out, David became a judge after a bad ruling he and his teammate received during a 2 Headed Giant event at an old style “regional” prerelease. David realized that being a judge can really improve (or ruin) a player’s experience at tournaments and decided he wanted to make it better. Let’s take a peek behind the curtain and see what exemplary things Christian has discovered about him:
David, you are quite a mysterious person who always seems to have something planned and ready to go. This really showed at GP Oakland where you made the flex team into smaller 2 person groups and had each group check up with the different teams in the main event to make sure we knew what was necessary to do when the time came to give them their breaks. Doing this provided everyone in the team to take charge and delegate tasks during the times when those primary teams were on break. Whether we knew it or not this gave everyone to lead a team and it was done in a way to ease us into it. On top of that you do so much to get things running in our region from the shirts to the exemplar highlights a lot happens behind the scenes that many don’t see. Thank you for being the mastermind to a lot of things and helping us keep the fun going! 🙂
Christian has been playing Magic since 2009 and joined the judge program in 2014. He is an Area Captain for Los Angeles and Ventura counties and runs the PPTQ draft system for all the Tournament Organizers in Southern California. When he isn’t busy with his leadership duties, running PPTQs or playing Magic, he is in school to become a chef.
