Darren has long been a leadership presence in Alberta and the Calgary area, with a lengthy resume of judge certifications to show for it. He has been judging for many years – he tested for L2 in 2007 under then-L4 Jason Ness and had been an L1 for quite some time already at that point.
As we begin to roll out the L2 Tester process for senior Canadian L2s, Darren’s leadership and vast experience made him an easy pick to use as our test subject for the new process. I am pleased to see Darren take on this new responsibility, and am confident that this will provide new opportunities for previously-isolated L1s in the prairies.
Jason Wong (L2T Coordinator) had this to say about Darren after his evaluation and interview:
“Darren is a veteran judge from Alberta. He has mentored some of Canada’s best judges, and continues to share his experience with judges across the country. His ability to provide direct and constructive feedback at tournaments is something I value highly, and I trust he will bring that insight to his role as an L2 Tester. I look forward to seeing him lead the next generation of L2 judges!”
Way to go Darren 🙂

“L2 Tester? That sounds like something *I* would love to do!”
Awesome! Jason and I are in the process of absorbing Darren’s feedback about the process, and stay tuned for updates on how to apply in the coming days/weeks!
