The Regional Coordinator

The Regional Coordinator is a contact person for organizers, judges and players for anything related to the judge program. See the Official Resources for more information about the RC’s responsibilities.

The Regional Coordinator for the region is currently Johanna Virtanen. She is a Level 3 judge from Espoo, Finland. Johanna started judging in 1999 and has been serving as Regional Coordinator since 2010. Her favourite Magic card is Tarpan and her favourite knife is a 20cm Wüsthof called Baby Gurthang.

The Area Captains

The Area Captains oversee specific geographic areas and assist the RC in various tasks. If you have a question that is related to a specific area (such as “I’ve just moved to the Stockholm area, how do I get involved in local events?”), the local Area Captain is probably the best person to talk to. The Area Captains can be contacted through their Judgeapps profile pages, or through the regional coordinator.

The Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania)

Jonas Bernotas, L1

Jonas oversees the areas of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. His favourite Commander is Sydri, Galvanic Genius.

Denmark

Sune Halkjær, L2

Sune is the chief-dane over the area of Denmark. His favourite Commander is Xenagos, God of Revels.

Finland

Right now, there is no Area Captain for Finland.

Sweden – South

Patrik Fridland, L2

Patrik started playing Magic pre-Ice Age. That’s so long ago he can’t really recollect exactly when, and has a saying nowadays “It’s not a question of if, but when you relapse back to Magic”. He enjoys long discussions about semantics, philosophy and about how right he is. When he has extra time he likes to try to teach other some of the softer sides about judging, as you can read at our blog HERE.

Sweden – North

Christopher Liewendahl, L1

Christopher is the main chief of the northern parts of Sweden. His favourite Commander is Mayael the Anima.

Norway

Lars Harald Nordli, L2

Lars Harald started playing Magic in his youth with Portal and 127-card collection decks, and played until High School before he sold his cards and took a 6 year long break. Now Lars Harald is an old man with a wife and kid, but still manages to play Standard, Draft and the occasional Commander-game. His favourite Commander is Meren of Clan Nel Toth.
