With the release of Dominaria, we judges have to update our knowledge with new card’s abilities, interactions, and new policies. That sounds utterly boring right? We have a way to make it more interesting, and what could be more interesting than a buffet!
We all met at “In the Middle”, which was located right in the middle of Bangkok (no pun unintended). This meeting wasn’t only for updating our knowledge, but it was also for our Judge Manager Smith to hand out exemplar promos from the last wave.
Combining “work” and play is nothing new for us judges. We always find a chance to meet up and enjoy ourselves while at the same time sharing knowledge. One of the interesting cases we discussed was about Squee, the Immortal VS Ixalan’s Binding. With the current ruling, you can still cast Squee from exile zone even though it was put there by Ixalan’s Binding. It’s such a corner case on the ruling part. However, it was also confirmed by the Rules Manager from Wizards as well that this will be changed later in the upcoming future so that you won’t be able to cast Squee from Ixalan’s Binding anymore (https://twitter.com/mtg_lee/status/992087757869596673). As of now, we’ll stick with the current ruling.
Lastly, we all had a brief meeting about the upcoming Thailand Nationals since the TO is also one of the judges. This proves to be very beneficial to other judges since we could all know what’s about to come and prepare beforehand for this biggest event in our country.
Oh, by the way, we’ll have to prepare ourselves for Thai shoulder massage in the event as well. Yes, Thailand Nationals will have shoulder massage available for the VIP players and the judges too! Isn’t that amazing!!?? LOL
