Jeremy Stoermer

Jeremy started playing Magic when it was still in it’s infancy in 1994. As an avid gamer, it was only natural for Jeremy to be drawn to Magic when a friend’s dad showed him a Magic deck. Being a lover of fantasy games, the art was the first thing to catch his eye. He participated in an unofficial Magic club at school and has been at it ever since.

Jeremy certified for Level 1 in spring of 2012. He was helping a friend run convention Magic at the time and wanted to be able to judge the events for him. In October of 2014 at GP Los Angeles, Jeremy made level 2. He has always been “the rules guy” for his local store and a judge at heart. His favorite format is very stereotypical of your average judge, but he LOVES Commander! The social aspect of the games (and the super crazy interactions that happen) make this format a judge favorite. “Having fun and a long strange random game of Commander with friends is the most fun you can have in Magic in my opinion.” says Jeremy. He loves to help others learn to play and get better at this game that we all love. He is constantly growing the program and the community through running judge classes and helping local stores improve their tournaments and events.

With that said, may I present to you a very well written and heartfelt recognition for Joe Kavanagh:

Joe, What can I say except you are the glue that holds our region together. Every interaction I’ve ever had with you has made me come away feeling like there’s so much more I could be doing for the program and how much I want to be like that guy! Your expertise in logistics, IT, social media, customer service and content delivery is unsurpassed and your every idea, from the advent of the prize wall to introducing slack as one of our primary means of intra-region communications has made me scratch my head and wonder, “That makes so much sense, why weren’t we doing that before?”. You are truly exemplary of what we should all aspire to be as judges: professional, helpful, unselfish, self analytical and utterly brilliant. It is my honor and pleasure to be your friend and to get to work with you at events and I can’t wait to see in what way your next big idea revolutionizes the way the judge program operates!

This Exemplar recognition really shows the love and care put into this program and how much we mean to each other as friends, teammates and family. Thank you Jeremy for bringing to light all of the hard work Joe puts into this program.
