We’re back with another edition of Southwest Exemplar Highlights. Seren here, and today we’re taking a closer look at Jason Long‘s fantastic relationship with his local game store.
Judges are an important part of the health of the Magic community, but for Exemplar it is not just enough to work an event to receive recognition. Judges appreciate that running events is a lot of work, and players are drawn to stores that run efficient events. A Judge that keeps events on schedule keeps players engaged and also keeps operating costs down for store owners. Jason Long was recognized by Eric Lee for his Event performance and efficiency at his local game store Galaxy Games in Dublin, CA.
“Jason, I spoke with your local store owner who described you as a staple of the Galaxy judge community. Every event he’s had you on staff, you show up early, you leave late, and always impress with your work ethic. As an example, at a recent PPTQ, you ran the event almost entirely by yourself, despite having access to an assistant if needed. You were so on top of things that the assisting judge that was provided in case requested not to be compensated, simply because of how well you had things under control by yourself, and how little assistance was necessary. The store owner has said that on numerous occasions, you’ve shown up, put in way more work than others have done in that position before, and made sure that everything was as perfect as possible until the event was over. You’re an asset to your store, to the players, and to us as a community. Keep doing awesome things.”
Thanks for your contribution to this community Jason!
