Below you will find links to some applications that we recently opened with some additional comments on changes or unique circumstances with those applications.
CommandFest Washington DC
This event has a different compensation structure from our regular SCG Tour events. In particular, we are looking for a Rules/Floor Lead who we expect to be a top expert of the esoteric rules interactions that might arise in a game of Commander. The Swiss Events Lead and the On-Demand Events Lead roles should be fairly familiar to judges.
The application for CommandFest Washington DC closes on Sunday, November 10th.
Season One Keystone
Per our previous blog post about Season One compensation, applications for Keystone are restricted to Level 2 and Level 3 Judges based on their Historical Level as of September 30, 2019 (and compensation is tied to those Historical Levels).
One change that we are piloting this Season is to allow L2s to apply for the position of Open Support Judge (SJ), an application previously restricted to L3s. The role consists of being the back-up Head Judge, taking appeals and conducting investigations. Since implementing the SJ as a regular role on the Tour, we have had a few L2s fill this role out of necessity, and given that these are skills that we ask L2s to possess in order to be Classic Head Judges, we wanted to give these judges the opportunity to grow into a new leadership role under the proper circumstances. The application forms for both L2s and L3s have additional questions aimed at finding those circumstances. I wouldn’t expect more than 1 or 2 such opportunities this Season as we will want to closely monitor and evaluate any such implementation.
The application for the Season One Keystone Program closes on Sunday, November 17th. Yes, for those of you who will be attending, this is the Sunday of SCG Con Winter. Given the short time table available to us, it is necessary to close the application on Sunday and get to work immediately on processing our applications so that we can meet proper deadlines to staff the first events of the Season. Especially if you are interested in an HJ or SJ role, please be aware that there are additional policy questions that may take additional time to answer.
