When I first became a judge, the phrase that many mentors shared with me was, “You get out of the program what you put into it.” At the time I didn’t really understand, but over the last few years it has become apparent that some of the best judges are the ones working hardest to invest in themselves and others. While improving judges happens in many ways including reviews, flash feedback cards, conversations with mentors, and time spent studying alone, one of my favorites is judge conferences. These gatherings provide opportunities to learn from presentations, meet face to face with mentors, make new friends, take certifications exams, and so much more.

So with that, I’m pleased to announce the USA-South Spring 2019 Judge Conference ‘Building Your Brand: How to Be You in the Judge Program.’  This event will occur at the Silver Star Smokehouse in Texarkana, TX on April 13, 2019. Features will include a Keynote by our RC David Hibbs as well as a special presentation from L3 Meg Baum. Our meeting will be accompanied by a tasty barbecue buffet for lunch. The afternoon will offer opportunities to take judge exams, meet with mentors/mentees, try out card counting or investigations scenarios, and improve your review writing skills.

While the final details of the day are still in the works, I wanted to go ahead and get this announcement out so that you can mark your calendar and plan your carload now.
