Highlights from Exemplar Wave 8 – Europe-North

We have a lot of awesome judges in the Europe-North region. We have searched through the Exemplar Program – Wave 8, and found some recognitions that we want to highlight.

Valdas, as you know, when the Exemplar window is closing, we traditionally ask the judges and players we know to tell us if there is an “unsung judge” somewhere who should be recognized. When I did this, several of your fellow judges from your home country wrote me. The concensus seems to be that you are the Magic backbone in not only Vilnius but in no less than THREE COUNTRIES! Some of the words describing you were “dedicated”, “icon in our community”, “a possitive impact”, “mentor”, “a pillar”, etc. The picture I was painted was that of a positive, hard working and almost self-sacrifising judge that will do anything for their community and peers. Now, if only half of that picture is true, we are still talking about a pretty awesome person. From the few interactions we’ve had together, paired with the high praises I’ve heard while chatting with your fellow judges, I see something in you that is indeed worth a recognision. I do believe that your efforts are very highly appreciated in your community. I also think you should be banned from doing anything dangerous as, if you are not there, Magic might die in the Baltics. šŸ˜‰

Wow, this dedication to his community and his fellow judges really deserves recognition, so it’s good to see that John nominated Valdas for his exemplary behaviour! We can all strive to have an impact as a judge that is dedicated to mentoring and helpingĀ our peers!

Even though we only adopted you in the Europe North region, you constantly engage local judges of all levels and provide feedback and suggestions to improve the region. The new project, “Danske Dommere: Ask a Judge”, on Facebook has already been a great success for the country of Denmark. The barrier of not speaking the language is no barrier to you and that is truly exemplary!

Being involved in projects is one way that you can contribute greatly to the Judge-community, and not only did William start a new project, the goal of the project is to help players in a language he doesn’t even speak! It is clear that William provides excellent customer-service to the players engaged with his project!

At the RPTQ weekend in Roskilde, you showed a huge desire to learn and improve as a judge. Over both days of the event, you were always asking the right questions and always pushing yourself to learn and do more without getting in the way of the event. This level of drive and commitment to self-improvement in an L1 is exemplarly.

Setting goals, including others in said goals, and striving to learn are all qualities of an excellent judge. Thank you to Lars for his exemplary actions of a judge that might be striving for L2?

Thank you for joining us in learning from all the exemplary actions of judges in our region! Remember that Wave 9 closes on May 2nd. If you have any recognitions, please enter them now. If you know of any exemplary actions but can’t give recognitions yourself, please contact your local L2 or L3!
