Level Redefinition and L3

Hi all,

By now you’ve probably seen or at least heard of the announcement regarding levels redefinition.

So what’s changing for L3 testing?

What is happening in the redefinition is an affirmation of the core skills of L3, namely being leaders at large events. Excellent event judges who display outstanding and consistent performance at events should get their chance at L3 too. Exceptional community contributors and project members are welcome to apply as before. Overall we want to make sure that new L3s have a clearly-defined baseline skill for event judging, so that TOs can know for sure what to expect when an L3 comes to judge an event.

Now in order to do that we’ll need to revise the checklist slightly. Details are still being discussed and you need not worry – this isn’t changing anything for current candidates and I’ll make sure to make the transition for revised items as smooth as possible.

As for the core of L3 testing, where fellow L3s determine how well you’re doing, that’s not going to change drastically. If you succeeded at making L3 yesterday you’d very likely make it today too.

Stay tuned and watch for updates in the next weeks.

Daniel
