Hola everyone! I’m David de la Iglesia, L3 judge from Madrid (Spain) currently residing in sunny and way-hotter- than-what-you-can-imagine Doha, capital city of the state of Qatar.
I tested for L1 with Alfonso Bueno aka “Sito” at Spanish Nationals in Ciudad Real on 24 August 2008. Shortly after Sito also certified me for L2 at a PTQ in Madrid on 19 April 2009. After much traveling and judging all around the world I was promoted to L3 by Adam Shaw, Scott Marshall and Héctor Fuentes at Grand Prix Providence on 29 May 2011.
Broadcasting is my line of work, and since December 2014 I work in Al Jazeera’s HQ in Doha as Senior Vision Mixer.
I like cats, travelling, cooking, and taking pictures of the previous three things. Check out my Facebook if you like any of these. If you’re interested in frequent travel programs make sure you mention it if you see me, I love a good miles and airline status chat. My favorite Magic format is Legacy, noteworthy I won the Spanish Legacy Championship in 2007, playing Counterslivers. Turn 1 Aether Vial every game, every match seems strong enough!
My main current goal in judging is world domination making sure the judges in the Middle East and in the Europe – East region have a good experience in their time in the Judge Program.
Since November 2016 I lead the Social Media & Web Platforms Sphere. Find out more about this Sphere on the Official Resources site.
You can contact me on Facebook and Twitter. I also can easily be found on the #mtgjudge IRC room.
