Highlights from Exemplar Wave 9 – Europe-North

We have a lot of awesome judges in the Europe-North region. We have yet again searched through the Exemplar Program – Wave 9, and found some recognitions that we want to highlight.

Thanks a lot for your work on the Danish Judge page for players. When you joined you were on the fence, whether you could dedicate enough time to the project. You are instead constantly around to provide help not only with answering, but also with insightful feedback and useful discussion with the other members of the team. Your dual point of view as both judge and competitive player is extremely useful to bridge the gap as we aim with the page. Keep up the good work!

Contributing to a project in itself is not exemplary, but it is clear that Marcus are such a valuable asset to the team with feedback and discussion, that his actions are indeed exemplary! Good work indeed Marcus!

While working the LCQ for RPTQ Amonkhet at Dragon’s lair you were in charge of deckchecks. One round you found an excessive amount of standard-legal cards in a players deckbox outside of those on his decklist. Unfortunately the player was fairly new to competitive play and just didn’t know better. After handing out the penalty you noticed that the player became sad and upset so you sat down with him and explained the philosophy behind the rules and calmed him down. Your actions changed his minded from wanting to drop and go home to staying and playing the rest of the tournament. That was one of the highlights of my tournament. Looking forward to our next event toghether.

This is an outstanding act of customer service, and I’m so glad that Christopher got an exemplary recognition for this. Taking the time to sit down with the player, explaining the philosophy of our rules and get the player to continue in the tournament instead of dropping and having a feel-bad moment, is highly appreciated from everyone involved. Great job Christopher!

John, thanks for everything you do for our region. You’ve taken on various tasks with great enthusiasm, including helping out L2 candidates in remote regions and bringing your pre-prerelease judge meetups to the Helsinki region. Thanks for your efforts!

From this recognition it is easy to see that John thrives in the program. Arranging judge meetups is one way to strenghten the judge-community, and helping out L2 candidates in remote areas is a lot of work. Thank you John!

Thank you for joining us in learning from some of the exemplary actions of judges in our region! For the time being there is no recognition window open for submission, but that doesn’t have to stop you from saying thanks to your fellow judges! When the new window opens and if you have any recognitions to give, enter them when the situation arises. If you know of any exemplary actions but can’t give recognitions yourself, please contact your local L2 or L3!
