Highlights from Exemplar Wave 9 – Europe-North

We have a lot of awesome judges in the Europe-North region. Since Wave 10 hasn’t been published yet, we have yet again searched through the Exemplar Program – Wave 9. We have found some recognitions that we want to highlight.

This was meant for the last exemplar window, but for personal reasons, I did not have the time to write this. I really want to thank you for the whole BSK weekend, it was my first time HJ a multijudge event, and your role as Judge Manger was one of the finest actions I have seen from a judge. My role as HJ is to make sure all other Judges are well rested, and can handle their roles, but you took on a role to make sure I was well rested and could handle this weekend. You took it opon yourself to make sure the whole weekend was as good as it was, and sacrificed your downtime to really make sure that we other judges got rest. Next time I will take that role and order you to go and sleep! I really hope that I get to work with you again!

Judge Managers are often invisible to the players, but a very crucial role in order to organize a large event like the BSK. From the recognition that Anton has written, Jakob excels in this role and made sure that all judges had a good time. Good job Jakob!

Since the start of the new Facebook page “Danish Magic Judges”, you have been an integral part of the group of judges behind answering questions and communicating with players. It is clear that you want to be of service to the community, while growing as a judge at the same time. Your actions of supporting the Facebook Page and always searching for opportunities for growth is what I find exemplary.

Joining a project is one way to contribute to the judge-community, and Anders have been pro-actively taking part in the “Danish Magic Judges” Facebook-page. This has not gone unnoticed and well worth a recognition. Nice!

On behalf of Pål Andresen (L1): Torgeir, I want to recognize you for your excellent way of mentoring me over the last couple of months. I appreciate the way you allow me to take calls at events, but at the same time help out when you notice that I am uncertain or when I miss something. You always explain to me why you do the things you do, which helps me to understand your motivations, and become a better judge. As a fresh judge, I especially value your availability, and your willingness to unsolicitedly teach me practical tips&tricks.

Even though you’re a L1 and can’t test L1 candidates, you can still mentor them and make them ready for the leap into the judge-community. Torgeir has done that, and in a very good way, making sure that Pål could take calls, but still be in close proximity. We need mentors to take in fresh judges, and Torgeir definitely deserves a recognition! Awesome!

Thank you for joining us in learning from some of the exemplary actions of judges in our region! Exemplar Wave #11 is open and closes november 1st. If you have any recognitions to give, enter them when the situation arises. If you know of any exemplary actions but can’t give recognitions yourself, please contact your local L2 or L3!
