Highlights from Exemplar Wave 15 – Europe North

Happy new year everybody! What better way to start the new year than to take a look of the awesome judges in the Europe-North region. We searched through Wave 15 of the Exemplar-program and found some recognitions that we want to highlight.

At the Danish nationals, I gave you a big task, which turned out to be even bigger than I expected. You were in charge of and ran every single regular REL event while nationals was under way, and at no point did I get the feeling that I needed to keep tabs on you. When it finally became too many things for one person to do at once, you were also quick to ask for help, specifically describing what you needed and why. I find your logistical skills and oversigt, but also your attention to your own limits to be exemplary.

Running all the Regular REL events at Nationals can be a daunting challenge, and I’m pleased to see that Jakob overperformed! Keep up the awesome-ness!

We worked together on the deckcheck-team at Nationals, and I was very impressed by your great initiative throughout the tournament. You sorted all the decklists alphabetically at a fast pace and you found out which tables you wanted to perform deckchecks for. Even though you hadn’t done a lot of deckchecks you took the challenge and overperformed!

Working under time-limits on things you haven’t done often can be challenging, and I found Roy-Arne to be most efficient! Great work!

Patrik, you put a lot of effort and time into making the regional conference in Malmö a success. The way you made people excited for it, planned a workshop, tried to set up places to stay for visiting judges, planning dinner and much more helped make it great. I want to combine this with something else though. During the conference, you expressed to me that you had taken on too much and reasoned about how you should have handled some of the requests you said yes to instead. The combination of willingness to help make great experiences for fellow judges and the wisdom to realise where your limit is and plan future decisions based off of this is great. That makes us have a great judge but who doesn’t break from constantly overdoing themselves. Please keep practicing self-care and keep doing awesome things!

By all the recognitions Patrik recieved during wave 15 (a whooping 7!), I found this one to sum it up all nicely. Doing extreme amount of work for our region’s fall conference is by itself exemplary, and reflecting on what your own limits are so you can perform the same task another time is very valuable. The whole region appreciates your efforts Patrik, keep it up!

Thank you for joining us in learning from some of the exemplary actions of judges in our region! Exemplar Wave #16 is open and closes February 19th. If you have any recognitions to give, enter them when the situation arises. If you know of any exemplary actions but can’t give recognitions yourself, please contact our Regional Coordinator!
