Over the past few weeks there have been a number of changes within the Judge program. Enclosed you can find information about how we now write reviews, handle disqualifications, and more!
Judge Center Update
Judge Center (https://judge.wizards.com/) is going through some changes. Currently the system is offline for the next few weeks (tentative release date is 4/4/17). We don’t have knowledge of how exactly things will look when the system goes back online, but some functionality has been moved as you will see below. Sara Mox has shared some information in regards to this change, which you can read about here.
Reviews in JudgeApps
Paul Baranay was recently able to share the new process for submitting and viewing reviews. The BIG change here is that they have been moved from Judge Center, and now reside inside JudgeApps! You can find Paul’s initial post announcing this change here. In addition, you may want to check out Dan Collins‘ post detailing some pointers on how to use the new review form. One thing that I haven’t seen touched on a whole lot in other places: at the bottom of each review written or received there is a box for comments. This is a handy way to have some dialogue with the writer or recipient of a review after the fact. Neat!
Investigations in JudgeApps
Now this isn’t some super fancy computer program that will handle your investigations for you, but rather the disqualification procedure has also migrated from Judge Center to JudgeApps. Johanna Virtanen announced this change recently with a post containing full details. Certainly worth checking out if you plan to be judging any events in the near future!
Exemplar Update
Bryan Prillaman recently had TWO announcements!
- Exemplar wave 9 opened on 2/15/17, and closes on 5/2/17 at 23:59:59 PST.
- Exemplar wave 8 was published on 3/18/17.
Grand Prix Feedback Form
Have you been to a Grand Prix recently? The Grand Prix Head Judges are looking for feedback on how to improve things! There’s a Google doc containing a semi-anonymous survey, ready and waiting for your feedback!
ChannelFireball Events
In a bit of a more far-reaching change: starting in 2018 all Grand Prix level events worldwide will be organized, managed, and promoted by ChannelFireball. There’s still a lot of pending information in regards to this one, but the initial details were announced recently by Helene Bergeot.
Today we also had two senior judges post in regards to this change:
