New Management & Store Events Blog

Hi everyone! I’m Jack Doyle, a Level 3 from London, in the UK. I’m going to be the new Kim – I’ll be taking over the day-to-day management of the Regular REL blog. Don’t worry; Kim will still be around to a) make sure that I don’t burn the place to the ground, and b) to take credit for all the hard work. I’m going to be making sure that we have content regularly available for all of you guys; so if you have a topic in mind for the blog, please don’t hesitate to contact me through JudgeApps.

The first thing I have the great pleasure of introducing is a new blog by Fabian Peck, Level 3 from Melbourne, Australia. It tackles common tournament organizer issues for new events. As most of the events that a new tournament organizer will be running are held at Regular REL, it seems poignant to link that blog from here, so more people will have access to the great resource that Fabian has set up. So, who’ll be interested in stuff over there? Well, to quote Fabian’s introductory post:

This blog is going to be aimed at people running store level events; judges, store employees, tournament organisers and anyone else who’s interested. I encourage you to forward this to any local stores who might be interested; if they don’t have a judge on staff, they’re unlikely to see this and I’d really like to get this info out to all the TOs operating without much support.

I’m definitely looking forward to sharing this with newer TOs myself, especially those who are readying themselves for PPTQs – a lot of these issues will try to sabotage your event, regardless of the REL!

Thanks for reading, and see you again soon with an article that discusses some of the ways we deal with Serious Problems at Regular REL.
