The Spheres Explained

The Spheres are broad categories of the Judge Program, each run by a team of judges with a Level 3 judge as leader. Each leader has as main responsibilities the maintenance, coordination, and communication with other leaders about these broad categories. They are empowered by the Program Coordinators to make broad decisions on strategic direction within their Spheres, to facilitate getting involved, to help along struggling projects, and to recognize great contributions.

Sphere Leaders are not an Advanced Role and do not rotate every 18 months. The Spheres and their leaders are decided by the Program Coordinators.

These are not traditional Spheres, as they have been built from the opposite direction. Rather than take a person and find something for them to do, the Program Coordinators have identified what needs doing and chosen the appropriate people to do it. The leaders will be reviewed periodically to ensure things are working.

Some projects will require cooperation across multiple spheres. A few projects don’t fit in any particular Sphere, and the Program Coordinators will be handling those directly. But this group will be the primary points of contact for many of the day-to-day functions of the Judge Program. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to them with a great idea, an offer of help, or a request for assistance.

Thanks to the Project Org Chart team, we have an overview of the spheres and how they relate to projects in the global judge program:
