I’ve been ready to celebrate Gérard’s Level 3 promotion for a long time. His critical eye, his incredible motivation and his desire to move things forward are indispensable for the French community and the judge program in general. Since he became Level 2, he began incredible work as an area captain in a deserted area and made it live again. Seeing stores and potential candidates, working with them and bringing them motivation he was able to revitalize this area alone. In the French community, he recently took a lot of initiatives. When he notices that something is not moving, he puts in a lot of time and effort into it. As an example, the last French judge conference was of incredible quality, with ideas such as calling each and every attendant to get their precise and direct feedback, that he could apply to the next conference.

When we first met, we had really divergent opinions, and communication was not that easy. We both decided to go over it; and with discussions and time, we started to understand each other. A little more than a year ago, we discovered in each other a trusted and true friend, after nights of talking and singing in GP Chiba. Since then, we discovered what our differences could bring to the judge program and there wasn’t a day without sharing experiences and thoughts about the French community. He came to me with ideas, energy and directly applied it — with concrete work — the very same day. I know that for any problems that I have, I can call him and get new and open ideas on how to handle them. From associating music to Ravnica guilds to creating a complete document to help new judges, or to help new Level 2s to find resources they could need, his work, motivation and energy are incredibly useful to the French community, and to me. I am really impatient to see what he will bring to all of us with this new level, as I am sure Gerard showed us just a small amount of what he could do!
