Gustavo Adolfo Otero de Leon

This week’s Judge of the Week is Gustavo Adolfo Otero De Leon. Gustavo is a level 2 judge from Cayey, Puerto Rico. Gustavo started playing Magic when Ravnica Block was released in 2005, and started judging during 2009. It was at Pro Tour San Juan in 2010 that Gustavo was certified to level 1, and just one year later at GP Atlanta he was promoted to level 2. Gustavo had a problem. He had to correct people’s mistakes when playing. It would tick him off when things were not done correctly. Thus, he became a judge. He also viewed himself as the only judge in Puerto Rico, however, this is not the case anymore now that a community has been constructed. Here is what Gustavo had to say:

GustavoOtero“I have to say my most memorable judging experience was at PT Paris, by far is my biggest event, and I worked 5 days, including working the Last Chance Qualifier, and the 4 days of the Pro Tour. If you want and specific situation, then, I would say any of the three times that Gerald Fabiano had called a judge. I answered all three calls and all of the three times he appeals my ruling. In case you are wondering they all got upheld… jajaja. I also really like the behind the curtains jobs.”
