Judge Foundry Wave 1 Recognitions Published

Hello all, our first Judge Foundry Exemplar Wave is published and available for your reading pleasure.

Look on JudgeApps here to read about all the incredible achievements and contributions your peers have made at home, at events, online, or in their community. While there, you can also read use the search tool to see all the awesome things your fellow judges are doing: at home, at events, online, or in their community. The search tool will also allow you to read recognitions from the previous waves under the legacy program.

I want to thank everyone who chose to recognize their peers this wave. So much of what judges do goes unnoticed, and it is a genuine joy to read tales of the gratitude for and successes of our fellow judges. So often feedback can take on a negative form. While constructive negative feedback is both helpful and valid, positive reinforcement is just as valid, just as helpful, and frequently more difficult to provide.

I am part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethrough
Gleams that untravelled world, whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.

– Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Under the legacy program, we had tokens, with custom art meant to highlight a judge who received recognition from a previous wave. For this revival though, we don’t want to highlight a single recognition. Instead we want to highlight the contributions of judges and how they have left a mark on us. Judge Foundry is not the beginning. It has been born out of Judge Academy, the Legacy Judge Program, and the efforts of those even before that. Every judge stands on a foundation built by the judges that came before them. And when you start to think a bit like that, it starts to sound a bit like a particular theme of an upcoming Universe Beyond Magic set IP. For this wave, our token art will be a Judge Army, with art illustrated by Ken Meyer Jr. The concept was that every judge has an army of judges behind them. Not just judges from the past that built the current iteration of the program, but also the current ones that talk and guide and mentor and encourage us to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

This art is provided to Judge Foundry members, and non-commercial reproduction is allowed. We are still looking into a way to easily allow judges to print their own double sided tokens with their nominations on the back, so stay tuned for that.

Also next week on 9/8, after the Annual Member Meeting we will open the next wave and highlight a few nominations from this past wave.

Until next time, stay awesome.
