Wave 2 mailings – update

Written by Kim Warren

Hey guys.

Just a quick post to update you on the status of the mailings associated with Exemplar Wave 2.

Thank you to everyone who provided us with their address information in a timely fashion; I’ve sent that entire list onto Wizards of the Coast this morning. I will let you know any updates on when the actual mailing is expected to happen when I hear them.

It’s also been pointed out that I can’t count, and so the ‘countdown to the close of Wave 3’ updates that I’ve given in the last two posts have been wrong. Submissions for Exemplar Wave 3 will close August 31st at 23:59 GMT. This means that you now have just over 7 weeks to get them in. I’ll take this opportunity to remind you all of a few points on recognition submission:

  • The level of the person you are recognising is only checked at the point that the recognition is submitted. If they level up during the window after you have recognised them, that won’t render your recognition invalid.
  • After you’ve submitted a recognition, you are able to edit it later or to delete it if you change your mind.
  • You do not have to submit all of your recognitions at once.
  • You can submit your recognition in a language of your choice, provided that the person receiving the recognition is likely to be able to understand it!
  • If you want to recognise more people than you have slots for (or if you are a level one judge who has noticed someone that they would love to see recognised), you can talk to other judges (especially your Regional Coordinator) who might still have recognition slots about why this other judge that you want to recognise is awesome and should be recognised!

We’ve hosted some great articles recently on this blog to help people with their recognitions, including an article about best practices and common traps to avoid and another article about recognising level 1 judges. We’re also capable of hosting article translations on this blog, so if you think that your community would benefit from one of these posts being translated and feel up to the task, feel free to send us the translation to ExemplarProgram@gmail.com!
