Hello everyone! Today, we're introducing a new feature to JudgeApps. Many roles and levels within the Judge Program require an application, including verification of certain pre-requisites, such as events judged, reviews written, or exams passed. In the past, this has been verified using ad-hoc processes, such as unverifiable Google forms, or manual verification by the few users with access to the necessary data in JudgeApps. October is done, but the work on JudgeApps hasn’t. We keep improving JudgeApps to make it better for you - the judge community. Bugs. Bugs, bugs, bugs. And more bugs. We fixed a lot of them. Not critical bugs. No big-scale-break-everything bugs, but a lot of little annoyances. We also have some insight after opening the support Discourse forum to the public, so go in and see what it’s all about.
This past month we made some HUGE infrastructure changes that resulted in new capabilities, better future-proof systems, and the comeback of the judge map. Would you like to know more?
In this issue of the JudgeApps Updates we take a moment to talk not only about what new things you can expect from JudgeApps, but also about its inner workings, and explain some basic technologies we use to make the magic happen.
We are scheduling a maintenance window for the MagicJudges.org network of sites for Friday, August 24th, 2018, at 10AM Eastern. This is the final stage of migrating the servers to updated software baselines and current hardware infrastructure. We expect this maintenance to last no more than three hours.
